Girl From Nowhere Season 1 Episode 11 Recap – The Rank

Episode 11 starts with the announcement of the next Shining Star Award. The winner will receive many benefits and privileges in a school that believes beauty is everything for woman. Nanno is in front of the school building where only the popular and beautiful ones with a rank can enter. The voice-over announces to the whole school that the ranking still hasn’t changed.

A class is starting in which they discuss Aphrodite, the Goddess of Beauty when Nanno interrupts them and enters the classroom. The teacher asks her to introduce herself. She then called Ying, Princess Ten, and asked her to look after Nanno because she is new to the school and needs to catch up on some stuff. The teacher instructs Nanno to sit beside Ying. Ying sees the cut on Nanno’s face and asks her what happened. Nanno told her that a leaf cut her. Ying brings Nanno to Lord Fah Tower or the so-called”Top Ten Tower” where only the popular and beautiful one can enter. Nanno becomes curious about the top ten. Ying explains to Nanno what the top ten is. Nanno then asks Ying about her ranking, and Ying told her that she is lucky to be at number ten.

Nanno then realized the reason why their teacher called Ying, Princess Ten. Ying invited her to come inside. Nanno is confused because she thought only the top ten can get to enter the tower, but Ying told her that those who are in the top ten can bring one friend inside. Nanno smiled and agreed to come inside. Ying tours Nanno around, and they stop in front of a television explaining the privilege of the top ten. Ying then invited Nanno to eat.

Nanno thanked Ying. Ying told Nanno that she might not bring Nanno inside that often because of the rules, but some of what she said was a lie. Nanno brought out chocolate, and she ate it in front of Ying. Nanno asked her if she wanted some, and she tried one bite. One student approached Ying and greeted her, but Ying told her that she cannot wander around the tower without a top ten accompanying her. She gave her food to Chompoo and continued to lie to Nanno.

Ying heard a sound signal, and she told Nanno that the queen was already there. They went to watch the queen go down the stairs. She introduced Jade, the top one, and the other top ten members aside from her. Nanno told Ying that she thought she was as beautiful as Gade and could also become number one. Ying started to imagine she was number one, walking down the stairs while everyone was waiting for her. But what she said to Nanno contradicted what she was thinking.

Nanno called her and told her that she could do that. Ying told Nanno that she was pretty and that they should check her rank. They saw Nanno was in eleventh place, only one rank behind Ying. Ying became aware of that and told her that she would go first and left Nanno at the tower. The next day, Ying wakes up and notices that her ranking has dropped to eleven. She looked at herself in the mirror and saw a pimple on her face. She then popped it, worsening the situation. She went to school, and everyone was looking strangely at her. When she entered the room, everyone surrounded Nanno and told her she was climbing up the ranking too fast.

Nanno noticed Ying, and she smiled at her. Nanno cheered for Yin, saying that it would just be temporary. They asked Ying how she had a pimple because she had never had one before. Maybe she ate sweets yesterday. It could cause a pimple to appear on the face. Ying touched her pimple but stopped herself because it would worsen her pimple. Ying remembered that she had taken a bite of Nanno’s chocolate yesterday. Nanno just smiled at her. Ying unconsciously entered the tower, but she was stopped by the lady guards there because she was not in the top ten anymore. Nanno told them she was with her, and they let her in, but Ying refused. Nanno invited her to eat with her tomorrow because it is lonely to eat there alone.

Ying eats in the school’s canteen. It is very different from the Top Ten Tower. The room is also not as comfortable as she had in the tower. Everyone around Ying is laughing at her. Ying was looking at a magazine and saw an article about how a student becomes beautiful after removing her pimples. A girl approached her and told her that she would show her something. The girl was in the top six already. Ying ran away from her.

She dreamt about winning the Shining Star Award when she went to sleep. Everyone clapped their hands for her. She went on the stage to get her award when the teacher screamed upon seeing her face full of pimples. She woke up screaming, and she got another notification about her rankings. It informed her that her ranking dropped again to rank 21. She touched the pimples on her face.

Ying was in front of Led Fah Tower. She went into the convenience store to buy some face products. Nanno saw her and asked her what she was buying. Nanno looked at the products and asked Ying what she should buy, but Ying ran away from her and left her there. Chompoo saw Ying, but she ignored her. Nanno then whispered something to Chompoo.

The following day, Ying woke up and looked in the mirror to see that her pimples were gone. She received a notification that her rank was back at ten. She immediately went to the school and happily greeted everyone she saw. Ying happily went to the Led Fah Tower and went near the swing. New asked her what she was doing. She told her to check her ranking because New was in the top ten. Ying got a notification about her being in eleventh place.

The lady guards told her to leave the area. Nanno said to them that Ying was with her. Nanno sat on the swing, and Ying said she would push her. Nanno told Ying that she wanted to be with her in the top ten, but Ying told her that it might be the best she could do. Nanno suggested that if she can’t be prettier, she can make others less pretty. Ying pushed Nanno very hard until she fell out of the swing. Ying was notified about her being back in the top ten and thanked Nanno.

After Ying left Nanno, she opened her eyes and smiled creepily. Ying was inside the tower and relaxing when the other top ten members entered the room and talked about Nanno. They also talked about the scheduled awarding, and something weird always happens, like what happened to Nanno. They also talked about Ying, and Ying heard all of that.

Ying was playing the piano. She started to play a song while thinking about being the top one. She began to eliminate those who were above her one by one. She did something awful to them until she reached rank number two. Gade read a product review, and Ying changed the product into something she didn’t know. Ying was watching Gade when Nanno approached her. Nanno told her that she looked worn out for the past few days. Ying thanked Nanno until she heard Gade’s scream.

The next morning, Ying was walking in the corridor when she saw that no one was in the school and that the place was very dirty. She went to the tower and went inside. No one is there aside from Nanno. Ying asked what had happened. Nanno told Ying to stop playing dumb because she knew everything that Ying did. Nanno laughed at Ying. Gade came out of nowhere and told Ying she hadn’t won yet. Before Nanno left the tower, she wished Ying good luck.

Ying and Gade started to exchange words with each other. Ying starts to attack Gade, and they fight each other. They hurt each other until they both had marks on their faces. The teacher told them to attend the main hall to witness the Shining Star Award. Ying went there, expecting the award to be hers, but instead, it went to Chompoo. Everyone was looking at Ying because of what she did. Ying protested the result and told them that the award should have be hers. Chompoo went onto the stage, and everyone was shocked when they saw her. She gave her speech, and Ying was upset about the result. The episode ended with the teacher’s reminder to believe in their beauty.

Our Thoughts

A girl’s beauty is essential. In today’s society, where people look at a person’s physical appearance more than their character, there are so many insecure people out there. Yes, being beautiful is important but let us not forget that characteristics and attitude are more important than being beautiful. A person’s personality will define more about a person’s character. Beauty fades, but a person with a beautiful heart will remain more iconic than those who are not. This may serve us as a reminder that we can do everything for ourselves to be beautiful but let us not forget how to treat other people with kindness. Jealousy and insecurity drive people to do something because they keep comparing themselves to others. We are beautiful in our way and should believe in our beauty.
