Gigi Hadid Critics Say She Is Not Welcome In Shanghai For Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

It looks like the past came to haunt Gigi Hadid. The 22-year-old runway model is preparing for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai, but her Asian critics won’t forget her “racist” video that was posted earlier this year. Gigi showed her excitement for the fashion show with a throwback video on Instagram wearing the signature Victoria’s Secret angel wings. However, it looks like her Asian critics do not share the same excitement.

Gigi Hadid’s Distasteful Impression Caught On Cam

Gigi Hadid was accused of racism for imitating Buddha on video back in February. The video caused outrage, accusing the Victoria’s Secret Model of mocking Asians. The video was posted on Gigi’s sister, Bella Hadid’s Instagram page.It showed the young model doing an impression of the religious figure while out at a restaurant for a friend’s birthday.

In the short video clip, it captured Gigi holding up a Buddha shaped biscuit and squinting her eyes. People immediately called the model out for being disrespectful. The said video has since been deleted after the slew of backlash.

Not The First Time For Gigi Hadid

It wasn’t the only incident Gigi was accused of being racist. Back in 2015, she was accused of cultural appropriation for her Vogue Italia cover. She was sporting a blue afro hairstyle.

She received criticism again when she and her sister Bella wore colorful dreadlocks for a Marc Jacobs fashion show.

The model was called out again for her impression of Melania Trump at the 2016 American Music Awards.  She may have gained a few laughs for her outlandish performance. But on social media people had a different opinion on the matter. Calling out the model for being distasteful and offensive.

But it looks like the model is unfazed by her critics, despite people branding her as racist and asking for an apology.
