Game of Thrones Season 8: What's Ahead For Jaime Lannister?

Just when you think Mad Queen Cersei Lannister has enough enemies vying for her pretty little head, we might just count another one in the making. Jaime Lannister has shown incredible endurance in all the long seven seasons of “Game of Thrones.” We all know Cersei isn’t the nicest person to be with. And to serve who could be the greediest, most power-lustful queen in Westeros, it’s got to be exhausting.

In “The Dragon and the Wolf,” the Season 7 finale of “Game of Thrones,” Cersei made a couple of moves in her precious chess game of power that could backfire in the future—a future so near it’s in the next season.

Being the self-serving queen as she is, it’s no surprise that her so-called collaboration with Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen was a phony handshake. For some reason, Cersei still thinks that her reign is more important than the imminent threat of the White Walkers. So instead of uniting with them, she chose to turn her back against them and soon reveals this to her younger brother, who isn’t too pleased with her decision.

Another plan that Mad Queen is cooking up, is her little scheme with Euron Greyjoy and the Golden Company of Essos. The plan was to undermine the Targaryens by increasing her army. Thus, protecting her seat at the Iron Throne. Yet another move that Jaime wasn’t too happy about. Jaime isn’t Euron Greyjoy’s biggest fan—if anything, he hates the guy.

Coupled with his sister’s controlling of him, her greed and the countless times of crawling back to her only to yield the same results, poor Jaime walked away. Now in the “Game of Thrones” Season 8, Jaime has a long journey ahead of him.

Like the beginning of a long-needed breakup, Jaime Lannister is looking at good days ahead of him. And hopefully, he gets his much-needed time to himself instead of slaving away in King’s Landing. But where does he go?

There are plenty of rumors saying he’s probably going to pledge allegiance to Dany and Jon Snow, but let’s not forget how he murdered two Targaryens before—Dany’s father and Aegon’s granddad. Not that Westeros needed any more of them.

Another fact that we’re all unsure of is if he will eventually be the one to put a knife to Cersei’s throat. Or in this case, choke her to death. When the Mad Queen approached Maggy the Frog to predict her death, she said: “the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.”

Now that Jaime is faced with the liberation from his sister’s claws, he’s also faced with a bigger battle ahead of him—his battle of wills. Will he be the valonqar to end his pregnant sister’s reign and his child’s life? Or does he have bigger duties to fulfill in the war against the White Walkers?
