It’s safe to say that “The Long Night” answered quite a number of questions that were brewing ever since Game of Thrones began. After all, majority of the series was gearing up for the bloodbath of the century. Now that the dead are truly dead, however, there are still a handful of questions that the show must answer in its last remaining episodes. Jon, Dany, and the rest of the crew still has a way to go before everything finally settles in Westeros. Here are some Game of Thrones questions we want to be answered:
1. So what’s next?
This is probably the biggest Game of Thrones question we want answered as much as anybody else. The Night King is dead. The dead are dead. And the long night has been crushed before it could spread to the Seven Kingdoms. Now, the only clue we have to what’s going to happen next is that the living are going to fight the living for a chair made of swords—and the power to rule Westeros, of course. Unfortunately, while Cersei has her new shiny Golden Company army, Dany and her crew just lost a considerable portion of their army to the dead. And even with the dragons, Cersei has her huge bow and arrow prepped to take them down. So, probably the real question here is that how can Daenerys really fight Cersei?
2. How are the dragons and Ghost?
Out of all the human drama, we also need to know how these loyal companions are. They fought skin, tooth, and nails in the battle with the dead. And we only got to see Drogon at the end of the episode. So, how’s Rhaegal who took the brunt of Viserion’s brutal attacks? And how’s Ghost, who was in the front lines with the rest of the Dothraki and almost immediately perished at the white walker’s camp?
3. What happens to the Dany and Jon couple?
Last episode, the answer to that was unceremoniously interrupted by the arrival of the Night King’s army. And in the midst of all that survival, the aunt and niece Targaryen duo didn’t actually have a second to discuss what happens next to their relationship. And now that Jon knows his real birthright, we have no clue if he’ll have a change of heart and actually use it for the throne or if he’ll keep bending the knee for his aunt.
4. Who is the one who is promised?
That prophecy has long been hanging overhead Game of Thrones. And up until the great battle, there was no indication of who this prince/princess that was promised. We didn’t even get one clue. And now that the Red Priestess is dead, we’re not even sure if we’ll get an answer to this one.
5. What is Tyrion’s status with Dany?
Episode two cast a lot of doubt on Tyrion’s credibility as her hand with Dany. And like her conversation with Jon, Tyrion’s status wasn’t fully discussed. She did, however, send him to the crypts to keep him safe in an account of his mind.
6. Will there be a Hound and Mountain face-off?
This fight is one worth fighting for if it’ll ever come to fruition. How satisfying would it be to finally see a conclusion to this bloody brotherly rivalry that began in the very first season of the series? It might just be one of the fights that go down in history.
7. What about Cersei’s prophecy?
Part of Maggy the Frog’s prophecy to Cersei has already come to fruition. She had three golden children who all died. However, if she is pregnant with another baby, it might debunk the prophecy. Because the next part of her prophecy is that one of her little brother’s will kill her. And seeing as Jaime and Tyrion are now fighting for the same side, it’s not sure who’ll do it if she does die by any of their hands that is. Will she die by the golden hand or the hand of a dwarf?
Game of Thrones continues next Sunday, May 5, at 9/8c on HBO.
