Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power may not be Game of Thrones, but it has definitely been borrowing actors from the franchise to help bring Middle-earth to life.
The latest GOT alum to join the roster? Ciaran Hinds a.k.a. Mance Rayder a.k.a. The King Beyond the Wall. Here’s the announcement:

Details for Hinds’ character haven’ been revealed yet, but based on his previous works, we know that Hinds can be a commanding presence, whether it be as the leader of the Wildlings or as the ruler of Rome, Julius Caesar.
I can easily see Hinds play an old ruler of Rohan, but he could also be another Numenorian we have yet to meet. It would be great if he could also be a wizard like the one we meet in the first season, but at age 70, I don’t expect him to do some of the more physically taxing roles that are kind of expected of wizards in this franchise. Even Saruman needed a stunt double in the Hobbit films.
Who knows, maybe Hinds could be one of the blue wizards that have been the most mysterious element of Tolkien’s Middle-earth. They kind of disappeared into obscurity in the lore, but that opens the series up to do whatever they can with the characters. We’ll just have to wait and see.
No release date has been announced for the second season, but you can catch Season One of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
