The Flash and Aquaman 2 Delayed to 2023 Amidst WB Release Date Shuffle

Ezra Miller’s Flash movie has encountered so many delays and director changes that it was a relief when it was announced that the movie was finally coming out in November. As it turns out, we may have spoken too soon.

Variety reports that The Flash (along with several other DC properties) is being delayed after a re-shuffling of release dates. The Flash has now been moved from its November 2022 release date to June 23, 2023. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom starring Jason Momoa will now come out March 17, 2023 (originally it was set to release this December).

Other movies that got pushed include Black Adam (Oct. 21) and DC League of Super-Pets (July 29). Oddly enough, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which was set to come out next year, has been pushed forward to Dec. 12, just in time for the holidays.

The shuffling of schedules was said to be due to ‘COVID-induced production delays with visual effects.’ With Aquaman and The Flash expected to use a lot of VFX, it would make sense that they would be pushed back the furthest. Animation for the Speed Force doesn’t grow on trees, you know.

After the success of The Batman in theaters, you would think that DC would be going all in with cinemas; but I guess they would be looking at a major stumble if they released films where the VFX wasn’t polished enough. Hopefully fans will still be excited by the time the movies come out in 2023.

In the meantime, you can watch The Batman which just hit theaters last week.
