Rian Johnson may not be working on his Star Wars trilogy right now, but he’s teamed up with Netflix for a franchise based on his original IP, Knives Out. The movie is set to release later this year, and it’s been announced that we’ll be getting our first teaser tomorrow.
Here’s the official announcement:

As far as the story goes, Glass Onion will once again have Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc trying to solve another murder mystery that was commited in the private island of a rich man played by Edward Norton. Besides the two, the movie also has a star-studded cast which includes the likes of Jessica Henwick, Ethan Hawke, Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, and Janelle Monae.
Though Blanc is a character that has been put in the center of the marketing since the first Knives Out, the first film actually had him more as a side character, at some times, an antagonist to the true lead of the film which was Ana de Armas’ Marta. With Glass Onion though, it’s said that Blanc will now have a more central role in the story. Some are already making comparisons to the Jack Sparrow character from Pirates of the Caribbean, who started off as a side character to Will Turner, but had slowly become the central protagonist as the series kept moving forward.
Personally, I think Johnson is a great writer, and has very interesting concepts for his movies from Looper to The Last Jedi. Let’s hope that Glass Onion continues to subvert expectations.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is set to come to Netflix on Dec. 23.
