FIRST LOOK: ’13 Reasons Why’ Season 2 Images Hints at an Apprehensive Court Trial

The excitement and anticipation for Netflix’s “13 Reasons Why” Season 2 builds up even more with the latest “first look” photos released today. In the past days, each main character from the series received their own posters highlighting a polaroid photo overlayed on top of their portraits. These images seem to hint at the last few scenes of the show when Tyler Down (Devin Druid) was in a dark room developing photos of his presumed “targets.” A few days before that, a teaser trailer was released, in which it tells us that “the tapes were just the beginning.”

“13 Reasons Why” enjoyed a successful run for its first season. However, the show was riddled with controversy for being too dark and for glorifying suicide, depression, rape, and drugs. But the show went on to become a beacon of awareness for schools, universities, and young people. Despite the heaviness that “13 Reasons Why” employed, it didn’t fail in showing the darkest sides of suicide and how to help someone going through depression.

’13 Reasons Why: The Trial’

Today, a bunch of images for “13 Reasons Why” Season 2 were released, and it seems to hint at a darker show moving forward. The first season ended with Zack Dempsey (Ross Butler) in a deposition, talking about Hannah Baker’s (Katherine Langford) suicide case. Based on the photos, the court will dig deeper into the case, and it also looks like everyone is not off the hook.

Entertainment Weekly confirms that the trial will be a big part of “13 Reasons Why” season 2, and many of the kids involved will testify. In one of the pictures, we see Jessica (Alisha Boe), who’s holding up two photos of her branded as “a drunk” and “a slut.” When season 1 ended, Jessica revealed to her dad that she was raped. So it’s safe to say that Bryce (Justin Prentice) will get his fair share of justice for what he did to Jessica and Hannah (and all the other off-screen girls he harrassed). Another image shows Christian Navarro’s Tony with a new character as he leans in for comfort. Tony’s Mustang appears to have been wrecked, suggesting that he might also be in trouble.

The “13 Reasons Why” images all point at one thing—dark times are coming, and we better come in prepared for another heavy and emotional season.
