Michael Bay’s live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie franchise may not be moving forward, but Seth Rogen is set to revamp the Heroes in a Half-Shell for the big screen with the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
Though we don’t know when Nickelodeon will official reveal the movie, 3C Films on Youtube has released a look at the new Raph, Leo, Donnie, and Mikey. Check this out:
Though recent redesigns for the Turtles have been pretty drastic with the Bay movies and Rise of the TMNT, it looks like the redesigns for Mutant Mayhem will have the basic layout for each turtle, with just a few tweaks here and there. Mikey will have braces; Donnie has glasses and headphones; Raph wears a bandana, and Leo looks like the most basic one of the bunch.
We don’t have any reveal for voice actors or animation yet, but it has been teased that Rogen will be embracing the ‘teen’ side of these Turtles, so we should expect them to act a bit more childish.
Though there are people who will always defend their own version of the TMNT, I think each incarnation of the franchise is supposed to be an introduction into the world of the Turtles, and that’s what makes them so popular with new generations of kids every few years.
Personally, I think the Rise designs were the most interesting version of the Turtles (not just with design, but character treatment as well), and I hope that Rogen and his team have managed to make these Turtles uniquely their own as well.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is expected to hit theaters on Aug. 4, 2023.
