First Look at Murderville has Will Arnett Improv Murder Mysteries with Celebrity Guests

Murder mystery shows are a dime a dozen from CSI to Criminal Minds, but Netflix is going to be putting a new comedic twist with their new upcoming show starring Will Arnett (BoJack Horseman).

According to Netflix, Murderville is a murder mystery show that will have Senior Detective Terry Seattle (Arnett) solve cases with a celebrity guest; the big catch is, while the murders are scripted, all the guests aren’t given a script, and they have to improve their way throughout the episode.

Here are the first pictures:

The show is based on BBC3 series Murder in Successville, and the first season will run for six episodes. The lineup of guests includes Annie Murphy, Marshawn Lynch, Ken Jeong, Kumail Nanjiani, Conan O’Brien, and Sharon Stone.

Though the show does have celebrity guests, the series also has other regulars like Haneefah Wood, Lilan Bowden, and Phillip Smithey.

The original show ran from 2015–2017 and starred Tom Davis as the main detective DI Sleet. Besides the murders, the setting of the show is actually populated by “celebrities”, giving an opportunity for actors to do funny impersonations for added entertainment. We don’t know if the American adaptation will bring any changes to the formula, but it’s already a pretty silly premise and I’d love to see how they handle it.

Murderville is set to hit Netflix on Feb. 03.
