There are many significant figures when it came to the creation of the One Ring and the Rings of Power besides Sauron, and if you did your Tolkien research, you would have come across the name of Celebrimbor. The character is set to make an appearance in Amazon’s Rings of Power series, and we have our first look at him played by Charles Edwards.

'In our story, Celebrimbor encourages and assists Elrond to visit Khazad-dûm and to court the Dwarves,' says actor Charles Edwards

In the lore, Celebrimbor was also a master crafter and had crafted three Elven rings—one of which, Nenya, is worn by Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings. Celebrimbor is the one who is tricked by Sauron to craft the other Rings of Power, each used to corrupt leaders of the several other races.
For a simple breakdown of how the rings work, you can check out this video from CGP Grey:
Celebrimbor actually had his own kind of lore written in the Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor games, but since those games have now been classified as very expensive fan fiction, we should expect the character to have his own original story when it comes to this Amazon series.
Admittedly, there is a lot of pressure for this series to deliver, but hopefully this brings a whole new generation of fans into the Lord of the Rings fandom because Tolkien is an IP that has been enjoyed by fans for decades.
Catch The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power when it premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Sept. 2.
