First Image of Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie a Deux

It was kind of questionable move to have the Joker sequel starring Joaquin Phoenix be a musical, but you throw in the talents of Lady Gaga, and you have one interesting project in your hands. We already got a look at a returning Phoenix in Joker: Folie a Deux, but now we also have a look at his partner-in-crime, Harley Quinn.

Besides the fact that the movie will be a musical, we also know that a huge chunk of the film will be taking place in Arkham Asylum, where Joker meets Harley. In the original canon, Harley was the psychiatrist assigned to ‘fix’ the Joker from his criminally insane state, but in the end, it was Harley that ended up being enamored by the Clown Prince of Crime.

Seeing that Phoenix’s character is a completely different iteration from the villainous Joker everyone is familiar with, I’m suspecting they could change things about his origin in the movie—especially when it comes to his relationship with Harley. In several incarnations of the couple, Joker merely manipulates Harley into doing what he wants and doesn’t really care for her well-being.

The way things went down on Joker, I think Arthur Fleck is still pretty far from the sociopath that the Joker is in the comics. But maybe we can see him turn into that in this film? There’s just several directions that the movie can go.
