“This time, no rules, no punishments and no more secrets” – demands Anastasia “Ana” Steele (Dakota Johnson) from Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), as seen/heard in the “Fifty Shades Darker” movie trailer.
‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Movie: A Quick Recap
After their parting of ways during the first sequel, “Fifty Shades of Grey,” Ana starts her job as personal assistant to Jack Hyde (Eric Johnson), who persistently asks her out for a date but has always been declined. Ana later receives an email from Christian. He and Ana attend a gallery exhibit in Portland, where they find themselves kissing in an alley.
With passionate hugs and kisses shared, Christian finally admits that he wants her back; Ana agrees – with a catch. Yes; no rules, no punishments and no more lies. It seems like she is graduating from the submissive Ana that she was.
Every fairytale has a darker side
The sequel begins with Ana thinking that Christian has changed. But then, a whole new darker shade of Christian Grey comes out. Ana gets to be introduced to two women who once played roles in Christian’s life — Elena Lincoln (Kim Basinger), Christian’s long-time friend and business partner; and Leila Williams (Bella Heathcote), his former submissive. The two become antagonistic towards Ana, trying to discord in their budding relationship. Leila later intensifies Ana’s fear by threatening her at gunpoint as she enters Ana’s apartment with a gun and tells her the lines, “tell me what you have that I don’t.” And even before she gets to pull the trigger, Christian Grey enters the heart skipping scene.
To what extent will Christian Grey go to show Ana what she means to him?
