After her run in the apocalyptic world of Fear The Walking Dead, Kim Dickens is stepping into the shoes of a former beauty queen for her upcoming role in Showtime’s Queen Fur.
Joining Dickens for the pilot episode are Lily Mae Harrington (Some Freaks), Michael Mosley (Seven Seconds), Jon Foster (Like Father), Joshua Mikel (The Walking Dead), Keith Machekanyanga (Timeless), and Spencer Howell.
Queen Fur is set in a small town in Central Florida according to TheWrap. There, beauty pageants, gun culture, Cuban revolutionaries and Southern hospitality co-exist and collide. And in the middle of it all is the high school dropout Macy Dunleavy (Harrington) who is ready to grab big opportunities.
Moving On To Queen Fur
Dickens will be playing Macy’s mother and former beauty queen. Foster is set to portray Macy’s anxiety-ridden older brother Rob. And Howell will be the youngest member of Macy’s family as the 9-year-old Jim.
Meanwhile, Mosley will be taking on the role of Todd, a local gun salesman. Mikel will be acting alongside him as Todd’s associate Ryan. And Machekanyanga will be acting as the small-time criminal Ralph.
Queen Fur is written and executive produced by Masters of Sex writer Eileen Myers. According to Deadline, the show’s pilot will be helmed by Orange Is The New Black director Sian Heder. Army Wives’ Deb Sepra will also be executive producing the show with Myers.
Queen Fur is Dickens’ first role after her character, Madison, was abruptly killed off in Fear The Walking Dead. Despite the backlash that followed, the showrunners were set on taking the show on a new direction. Aside from Fear The Walking Dead, Dickens also appeared in House of Cards, Sons of Anarchy, and Friday Night Lights. She also shared in a nomination for her role in Deadwood.
