'Fast & Furious 9' Delay: Tyrese Gibson Blames Dwayne Johnson On Social Media

The premiere for “Fast & Furious 9” has been delayed yet again, and Tyrese Gibson isn’t happy about it. In fact, the actor also blames Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the reason why it’s delayed. It was originally slated for a 2019 release, but now it’s been pushed back to 2020, something that Gibson is obviously pissed about.
Last month, Gibson made a public plea to Johnson saying that the latter had been ignoring his texts. Gibson urged Johnson to not prioritize his other projects over “Fast & Furious 9.” There’s obviously a lot of drama going between the cast of the film, and it’s beginning to look like a desperate call for attention by its stars. Last year, Johnson complained about co-stars in “The Fate of the Furious,” calling some of them “candy asses.” In June, Michelle Rodriguez threatened to leave the franchise if the filmmakers won’t “show some love to the women.” Add Gibson to that string of emotional social media breakdowns and you’ve got yourself a show to watch.
Pushing back ‘Fast & Furious 9’ and a pissed-off castmate
Following Universal Studio’s announcement that “Fast & Furious 9” has been moved to 2020, Gibson took to Instagram to voice out his frustrations over the delay. According to the actor, Johnson made the franchise about him. He also says that even if the studio calls him to take the post down, he won’t. It’s a pretty smug and audacious act, but Gibson is all for declaring war against his “Fast & Furious” co-star. He then ends his post by asking if the film will just be another rip-off of “Baywatch,” and also by saying, “guys guys just relax I’m just a passionate film critic.”
Either he’s drunk posting, or maybe he’s just really venting out his pent-up feelings. There’s just too much trouble going on within the “Fast & Furious” franchise that it’s beginning to look so extra on both parties. With bickering and attitude like this, it’s going to be hard for the studio to move on with their final two movies in the franchise.
Hopefully, a contingency plan is in place to calm these loudmouths down.
