Headlines were saying Netflix was closing their animated division, but we have been getting more reveals for animated shows recently. Just in, we have a look at Farzar from the creatores of Brickleberry and Paradise PD.
Watch this:
Here’s the official description:
Egotistical human warrior Renzo liberated the planet Farzar from the evil alien Bazarack, and then established a human settlement under a huge dome, becoming the Czar of FARZAR. Years later, FARZAR is under attack by the evil aliens once again and Renzo’s well-meaning and not-so-bright son Prince Fichael ventures out with his special crew “S.H.A.T.” (Special Hostile Assault Team!), made up of a human-solider-turned-cyborg, clashing conjoined twins, an unhinged scientist, a highly incapable mutant and a mischievous little alien known as a chaos-celot. As they begin their journey to fight the aliens that want to kill/eat them, Fichael quickly discovers that all is not what it seems and he may be living a lie.
The series pretty much looks like an ode to retro science fiction with all the Flash Gordon-esque imagery. Of course, Brickleberry fans will also be familiar with the character designs and aesthetics of this series much older siblings; but we should expect the same kind of adult humor and themes.
Admittedly there has been a rise of animated sci-fi comedy with shows like Rick and Morty, Final Space, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Solar Opposites, so Farzar will have to try its best to make itself a unique property around all this competition.
Farzar starts streaming on Netflix on July 15.
