Familiar Wife Season 1 Episode 15 Recap

Ju-Hyeok brings Wu-jin to his sister’s wedding. Sang-Sik keeps crying now that he’s married to Ju-eun. Ju-Hyeok introduces Wu-jin to his parents. His mother almost cries seeing Wu-jin. She thanked her for being with Ju-Hyeok. That night, there is an astronomical event. While taking a walk in the park, Wu-jin asks Ju-Hyeok if he doesn’t want to return. Ju-Hyeok says that this time he doesn’t want to go back to the past and will just look forward to a life with Wu-jin. During their meeting at the office, Ju-Hyeok wants to announce that he and Wu-jin are dating, but even before he can say anything, the branch manager apologizes for his actions during their welcome party for Wu-jin. “I was nosy. I admit it. I only did it to make you two get closer, but no matter the intention, it’s wrong if you felt uncomfortable,” the branch manager says. He says he will no longer talk about women in front of Ju-Hyeok. When he apologizes, the other employees apologize as well.

Wu-jin’s mother visits the office to greet Wu-jin’s new coworkers. When she sees Ju-Hyeok, she remembers that he’s the one who bought all her products one night. She offers them the products she brought with her, but only Hwan buys from her. At home, Wu-jin’s mom says being too kind can be a problem in the office. She even says that Ju-Hyeok looks clumsy and unreliable. Wu-jin tries to change her mother’s mind, so she keeps complimenting Ju-Hyeok.

After work, the branch manager suggests they drink together. Wu-jin keeps on giving signals to Ju-Hyeok not to go. Jong-hu sees what the two are doing, so he suggests they all go home and just drink some other day. While Ju-Hyeok and Wu-jin are eating at a restaurant, they see their coworkers walk in. They are not yet done eating, but Wu-jin sneaks out so the others won’t see her. When it’s Ju-Hyeok’s turn, Ms. Jang sees him and asks if he’s out eating alone. Ju-Hyeok lies and says he just got hungry. Because they all think that Ju-Hyeok is really alone, they feel bad for him.

While walking with Ju-Hyeok, Wu-jin sees people filming a show. She and Ju-Hyeok approach the crowd gathered near a food truck. The show‘s star, a chef, tells the staff to stop rolling after he gives his review. He looks at Wu-jin and calls her name. Wu-jin recognizes him, so the man pulls Wu-jin into a hug. He even pats Wu-jin’s head. Ju-Hyeok keeps thinking about the man they met earlier, so he asks Wu-jin about her relationship with him. “We weren’t just close. He was my first love,” she replies. Wu-jin talks about how handsome his friend was even before. Ju-Hyeok can’t do anything but listen. At work, he keeps looking at Wu-jin thinking about what she said about her first love. Ju-Hyeok blames himself for changing the past because he used to be Wu-jin’s first love.

The branch manager receives an important call and immediately relays the news to the staff. Everyone is surprised that Wu-jin knows the handsome chef named Edward Gang. The branch manager says Edward will be opening new shops, so he needs a loan. He also wants the bank to set up accounts for his employees and even wants Wu-jin to come and set up a portable branch. Since Edward is a big client, the branch manager asks Wu-jin to go to his restaurant to talk to him. Ju-Hyeok has to come as well because he handles self-employment loans. As soon as Edward sees Wu-jin, he smiles brightly at her. Ju-Hyeok seems invisible, and even Wu-jin seems to have forgotten about him and only remembers him when he thanks Edward for the food. When she introduces the two to each other, Ju-Hyeok tightens his grip while shaking Edward’s hand. Edward notices, so he also tightens his grip harder than Ju-Hyeok’s.

Wu-jin goes to Ju-Hyeok’s house to spend the weekend together. They prepare and cook food together, but when it’s time to eat, Wu-jin receives a call from Edward. The call is over 30 minutes long, so the food is already cold by the time they start eating. Wu-jin explains that the call is work-related, and Edward just asked about loans because he doesn’t know which one to choose. Ju-Hyeok gets mad that Edward had to contact Wu-jin when he could just come to the bank anytime. He even asks Wu-jin why she had to take the call instead of just ignoring it. Before the fight gets bigger, Ju-Hyeok says they should stop and eat. Still, he can’t stop himself and asks about Edward again, so Wu-jin walks out without finishing her food.

The next day at work, Edward invites all of them to come to his restaurant. Ju-Hyeok makes an excuse so he doesn’t have to go with them. Wu-jin knows what the reason is, but she still encourages her coworkers that they should enjoy the food even without Ju-Hyeok. Jong-hu thinks Edward will confess to Wu-jin, so he messages Ju-Hyeok about what is happening. Because he already knows that Edward likes Wu-jin a lot, Ju-Hyeok rushes to the restaurant and announces to everyone that he and Wu-jin are dating. Edward looks surprised, but he congratulates the two. All of their friends and coworkers know about them already, so only one person is left to tell. One night, Wu-jin’s mom catches Ju-Hyeok and Wu-jin kissing in front of her house. She invites Ju-Hyeok inside because she thinks it’s impolite to send him away just like that.

After Ju-Hyeok leaves, Wu-jin’s mom scolds her for kissing someone in the dark when all of their neighbors know her. She gets angrier when she finds out that Ju-Hyeok hasn’t proposed to Wu-jin yet. The next day, Wu-jin hints to Ju-Hyeok that she wants to get married. She thinks Ju-Hyeok doesn’t notice. Ju-Hyeok asks her to update his bankbook. Even though she’s annoyed, Wu-jin does as she’s told. While she checks Ju-Hyeok’s bankbook, she sees his message inside and the proposal at the end of the message. Wu-jin is happy, so she asks Ju-Hyeok to fulfill her dream proposal — on a roller coaster. Ju-Hyeok is not good with rides, but he still fulfills Wu-jin‘s dream proposal. After the ride, Wu-jin smiles wide and tells Ju-Hyeok that she will marry him. When they open their eyes, they wake up beside their two kids. They’re both late for work.

Our Thoughts

It would be nice if Wu-jin dated Edward. We know it’s impossible now that she’s engaged to Ju-Hyeok, but Edward is the character we wanted to see. He’s new in the story. He never appeared in the other past lives, so he didn’t have the chance to date Wu-jin. When Wu-jin said that Edward was her first love, it seemed like he was the perfect guy to compete with Ju-Hyeok over Wu-jin’s heart. Jong-hu was Ju-Hyeok’s friend, and he was really nice, so there was no way he would pick Wu-jin over Ju-Hyeok. Edward is very confident with himself and knows what he wants. Sadly, we didn’t get to see him date Wu-jin.

Why do they have to hide? Ju-Hyeok and Wu-jin are both singles in this life, so no one would have a problem with them dating. We like that Wu-jin’s mom is protective of her. It’s understandable since she doesn’t know who Ju-Hyeok is. But in their past lives, she always liked Ju-Hyeok, so there is no doubt she will think of him that way again soon. There’s no stopping them this time. They’re back to where they came from. They have their two kids again and are both determined to make it work this time.
