Esai Morales Set to Join DC Universe's 'Titans' Season 2 as Deathstroke

A key Titans villain is set to appear in the second season of one of the DC Universe’s hit superhero show. After making his Arrowverse debut, Deathstroke will be one of the major villains (one that’s a long time coming) of Titans Season 2. The character will be portrayed by Caprica’s Esai Morales.

Titans Season 2 ended with the threat of the demon Trigon (Seamus Dever) underway. The season finale saw Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) hallucinating a stand-off between him and Batman. He is seen to have been under Trigon’s influence upon his arrival. Fans are expecting the first few episodes of season 2 to focus on how the Titans will eliminate Trigon’s threat, subsequently introducing Conner Kent (AKA Superboy, played by  Joshua Orpin) to join Raven (Teagan Croft), Beast Boy (Ryan Potter), Starfire (Anna Diop), Hawk (Alan Ritchson), and Dove (Minka Kelly). With Morales’ joining the fore, it looks like Deathstroke will be the next big villain to go head-to-head with the team.

Deathstroke, AKA Slade Wilson, is one of the main foes of the Teen Titans in the comics. He’s a skilled assassin and mercenary who was once a soldier for the US Army. Wilson was subjected to an experiment that gave him the abilities of a super solider—enhanced strength, agility, unparalleled intelligence, and sharpness. Aside from being a vicious enemy for the Teen Titans and the Justice League, Deathstroke is also a well-known member of Batman’s rogue’s gallery.

Deathstroke was a major part of Arrow’s earlier narratives on The CW and was played by Manu Bennett. Joe Manganiello also gave a brief performance as the character in the end credits of Justice League. Manganiello’s Deathstroke was initially the villain of the solo Batman movie from Ben Affleck but was subsequently scrapped by the film’s new director, Matt Reeves.

There is no release date set for Titans Season 2 yet.
