Enter the Danger Zone in New Trailer for Top Gun: Maverick

The movie was originally set to come out in December 2020, but after a major delay, Top Gun: Maverick is now set to come to theaters this May. Just in, we have a new trailer that showcases a returning Tom Cruise as well as a new squad of pilots he’s going to take under his wing.

After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.” Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.

If anything, the film looks to be taking the usual reboot/sequel route with an older member from the original (Cruise) passing the torch to a younger generation (Miles Teller). I’m sure there are some fans who would have wanted to see a reunion with Iceman (Val Kilmer), but I think that’s still in the cards. What are the odds we get a de-aged scene and the guys are playing volleyball again?
