Emily practices some lines she’s going to say to Camille with Mindy, should she give her the chance to say sorry. Mindy tells her it’s better not to say anything because Camille is so mad she put an omelet pan in their toilet.
Emily goes to Gabriel’s restaurant to return the pan and blames him for putting initials on his pan. She tells him they’re in a big mess. He apologizes and tells her he’s avoiding Camille. Emily tells him she cannot do the same; she’s coming to Savoir that day for the Champère meeting.
Emily arrives at the office. Luc warns her: Camille is already there. He volunteers to do the presentation, but Emily insists. Camille talks to Sylvie about a new show she’s having; Sylvie says she’ll go. As the meeting starts, Emily tells them they had positive feedback from the focus group. Camille interjects and tells them she’d like to discuss her account in French. Emily tries to do it, but Luc saves her and continues the presentation.
After the meeting, Emily goes after Camille and asks her if they can talk. Camille responds to her in French. Sylvie translates it, saying Camille does not believe anything Emily says.
Emily is about to enter the classroom for French Level 2 when her teacher stops her. She says Emily is staying in French Level 1. Upon entering the Level 1 classroom, the teacher tells the class to find a partner to work with. She approaches Alfie, a man from London, and introduces herself. But he does not seem interested, so Emily moves on to a woman named Petra.
At Mindy’s work, two men talk to her and ask her if she can sing with them in their band. She hesitates, but she agrees when they tell her she does not need a work permit to join them.
Emily comes to the office and hears Luc and Sylvie talking about Champère. She tries to still be a part of the campaign, but Sylvie dismisses her. Luc tells her he’d love to take her to a classic French movie to help her learn French faster.
Julien announces the poireau people are there already, upsetting Sylvie: she thinks Savoir shouldn’t be working with them. But since they are a very persistent client, Sylvie decides to put Emily into the account — a chance to redeem herself after messing up Pierre and Champère.
Emily meets with the poireau people. They say she‘s perfect for the job because she’s an American. They say they’d love a rebrand that boosts their market share in the States.
Emily walks home with samples of leek and sees Gabriel trying to decide on the color of his restaurant. He sees the leek and tells Emily it is a subtle and elusive ingredient. He volunteers to show Emily what he’s talking about by cooking for her, but Emily tells him she’s unsure if they should be spending time together. Gabriel begs her; she concedes.
Emily watches Gabriel cook and gets amazed when she tastes the leek right after. Emily gets a text from Petra reminding her of having coffee, so she tells Gabriel she needs to leave. Gabriel asks her about the Champère meeting. She tells him Camille refused to talk to her, and she’s icing her out of her life and account. He tells her to just leave it alone, but Emily tells him she cannot do it. She asks Gabriel to talk to Camille and tell her what happened to them didn’t mean anything. He tells her he would be lying if he did it. She then blatantly asks him to lie.
Emily practices speaking French with Petra. They go to the mall for some shopping. After trying on several outfits and still wearing some clothes and accessories, Petra tells Emily to run, telling her to shoplift. Emily tackles Petra, retrieves the items and returns them to the store.
Gabriel goes to the gallery where Camille works and tries to explain what happened was all his fault. Camille refuses to listen to his explanations and tells him he should grow up.
Emily goes with Luc to see the movie as he promised. The movie is called “Jules Et Jim,” which is about a ménage à trois or a domestic arrangement where three people in a romantic relationship live together. A scene in the movie where a woman writes a love letter catches her attention.
After the movie, Luc tells Emily it’s not always easy to say feelings, but it’s easier to write them.
Emily decides she’s going to write a letter to Camille. Mindy tells her she cannot help; she has her first gig with the band. She also tells Emily she’s been using dog shampoo, which means she clearly cannot read the label.
Emily tries to ask Julien for help with her letter at work, but he tells her to just use Google. She also gets a bit of help from Sylvie. Emily seals her letter and sends it.
Mindy gets into the venue where their band will perform. She gets surprised when she sees it’s not a stage but a spot in a public place. She gets even more stunned when Benoît puts a hat on the ground. It was only then that she realizes they are busking.
Camille gets Emily’s letter written in French. It does not make sense, but Camille seems to understand. She lets out a sigh after reading the letter.
Emily presents her idea for the leek campaign. The clients tell her they think it is too generic. Sylvie butts in and tells them they can try magic leek soup if they are trying to attract Americans. Emily tells them she doesn’t think they should be promoting weight loss cures. The rest of the team agrees Americans love a shortcut, even on weight loss. Emily agrees but points out it is exactly why soup won’t work: it takes too long to cook. She says they need something ready to go, like cold-pressed juice. The client picks up on it and agrees to make cold-pressed leek juice.
Mindy finishes a song. People start dropping money on the hat. She tells Benoît it is indeed good money. She sings another song. A mime performs in front of her, taking advantage of the crowd and music. Mindy gets distracted, but Benoît tells her not to mind the mime. He also tells her they are occupational hazards because they steal tips. Mindy refuses to give in and competes with the mime.
A reply letter from Camille falls into the hands of Sylvie. It is written in Fench, so she translates it as she reads it aloud. It says Camille doesn’t understand why she did what she did, just like she could not understand anything in her letter; she should leave her alone. Sylvie tells her there is no quick fix for betraying a friend.
Emily attends French class and refuses to sit with Petra. She sits with Alfie this time.
Our Thoughts
Okay, we want to appreciate Luc because he is a genuinely good person. He takes Emily to lunch and movies and refuses to call her ‘la plouc’ when everybody else calls her that. Seriously, would it be that crazy if Luc ends up with Emily? Well, with the way things are going right now, it looks like Emily will have a new love interest soon. Before that, we hope she’ll learn French fast so they won’t be able to bully her for that anymore. Lastly, we’re so sad Emily lost Camille. We really hope they’ll get along again soon.
