Emily in Paris Season 1 Episode 10 Recap – Cancel Couture

As Paris Fashion Week approaches, Emily confides in Mindy that she worries about Pierre, who has refused to show his collection to anybody since the Grey Space debacle. Mindy also informs Emily that the drag club where she performed has given her a job as an emcee for two days a week, during which she will be able to sing. But she must persuade the Duponts, for whom she works as a nanny, to allow her evenings off.

Mathieu takes Emily out on a date. They kiss while on a balcony with a beautiful view, but the moment is cut short when Pierre contacts Mathieu to tell him he wants to cancel his Fashion Week show. Mathieu has to persuade Pierre to change his mind.

Sylvie is cheerful the next day as she tells Emily she loves Emily’s plan to mix things up for Pierre Cadault’s show. Antoine butts in before Emily has a chance to respond. He’s there for the Maison Lavaux and Zimmer Paris collaboration; it’s also the first time Sylvie sees him since the postponed trip to St. Bart’s. He requests a private conversation with Sylvie, but Luc interrupts them, saying the presentation is ready.

Luc gets disappointed: Antoine is more interested in making amends with Sylvie, while Emily is always on her phone to get some news from Mathieu. He gets even more displeased when Julien muses that Women’s Wear Daily tweeted Pierre is canceling his show. Sylvie gets mad and grabs Emily’s phone when she sees Mathieu calling. He tells her Pierre had already forfeited the venue, and their run-through didn’t go as planned.

Sylvie blames Emily for Pierre’s fallout and fires her. Visibly shaken, Luc and Julien ask Emily what the matter is. When she tells them she was fired, they breathe a sigh of relief. They tell Emily it is not that simple to get fired in France. They advise her to still come in.

Emily spots Camille and Gabriel arguing on her way home. Gabriel is moving back to Normandy, where he found a restaurant he can afford.

Emily goes back to the office the next day, but Sylvie tells her she no longer works there. But Luc convinces Sylvie to keep Emily in the Maison Lavaux account while the termination process is ongoing.

Emily and Pierre receive an invitation to Grey Space’s show and learn that they have taken over Pierre’s venue. Mathieu tells Emily that Pierre wants to see her right away. Sylvie overhears it and insists on going. Upon arriving at the atelier, they are surprised to see Pierre in such a good mood. He shows them a dress inspired by Emily and tells them he’s ready for Fashion Week. Emily volunteers to find a venue.

Emily is at her apartment looking for a venue when Mindy arrives and informs her she has been fired and needs a place to stay. Gabriel arrives and gives Emily his cast-iron pan as a farewell gift. He invites Emily to his last day at the restaurant the next night and informs her he and Camille are no longer together.

The following day, Pierre takes over Grey Space with a garbage truck, from which his models emerge dressed in vividly colored outfits. They have complete control of the runway and take advantage of the supposed Grey Space audience. It goes off without a hitch. They decide to celebrate by going to Gabriel’s restaurant; Emily posts on social media that Pierre will be there. As a result, many people, including Antoine and Catherine, rush to the restaurant. Gabriel’s departure from Paris seems to worry Antoine.

During dinner, Mathieu invites Emily to join him in Saint-Tropez the next weekend. Emily accepts. Antoine approaches Gabriel and expresses his understanding of Gabriel’s apprehension about borrowing money from his girlfriend for his business.

Later that night, Emily tells Gabriel she’ll miss him so much; they finally have sex. Emily tells Gabriel they shouldn’t see each other again, so they won’t hurt Camille.

The next day, Sylvie tells Emily she’s not fired anymore. As Emily walks home, she sees Antoine in Gabriel’s restaurant. Gabriel tells her Antoine has agreed to back him up in the restaurant, so he’s staying. Emily’s ecstatic until she receives a text from Camille, who informs her she heard the news and wants to speak with her.

Our Thoughts

This episode is the bomb! Emily gets fired and not fired — all in the same episode — we can’t get enough of it. We’re so happy to see Luc and Julien like Emily so much that they help her when it comes to Sylvie. Pierre’s comeback is phenomenal that Grey Space is left dumbfounded — what a sight! But we’re a little disappointed Emily is once again caught between Camille and Gabriel when she can actually have Mathieu, who seems to be completely into her. This episode is such a cliffhanger, and we cannot wait to watch Season 2!
