Ed Sheeran Breaks Records With New Album Divide, Spills Taylor Swift’s New Album Release Date

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran releases his new album titled Divide this March 3. The album includes his previously released songs Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill plus 14 more tracks.

The recently released album has broken multiple records right after it went available in stores and streaming platforms like Spotify. According to the Spotify, Sheeran is now the title holder for highest number of first day streams for an album. His whopping record of 56,727,861 streams beat the previous record of 29 million, held by The Weeknd’s Starboy.

Aside from that, Sheeran had his entire musical output played 68.7 million times, once again topping The Weeknd, the previous record holder with of 40.3 million.

Sheeran’s proof of fame and influence doesn’t stop there. He even smashed his own record of most streams in a single day for one song. His song, Shape Of You, now has the record of 10.12 million streams, a new feat compared to the previous 6,868,642 streams in January.

All 16 tracks (Deluxe version, plus four bonus tracks) are available on Spotify and has claimed their spots on the Spotify Global Top 50 Chart.

Sheeran Spills: Swift’s New Album Release Date

Singer Ed Sheeran and Swift are considerably close friends. The two have also collaborated in the past. This time, it’s not talk about a collaboration release but instead a talk of when Taylor Swift may release her new album.

In an interview with BBC news, Sheeran said “Taylor [Swift] isn’t going to be releasing until probably the end of this year – Christmas is the smartest time to release because that’s when everyone buys records. So I’ve got a full year of just all Ed, all the time.”

Swift usually releases albums on either October or November, with her last record, 1989, in October 2014. Rumors for her new album release surfaced this October 2016 but no album came out, so that left people pretty curious.
