'Dynasty' Season 1 Finale 'Death Scratch' Recap: 'Ghosts of the Past' [SPOILERS]

The past comes back to bite the Carringtons in the ass. In The CW’s Dynasty Season 1, Episode 22, Finale titled “Dead Scratch,” looks like the Colbys are in for a taste of luxury. That is–after an open secret comes back to life.

Lies Upon Lies

It’s confirmed that Hank/Adam (Brent Antonello) is not Blake Carrington (Grant Show) and Alexis Carrington’s (Nicolette Sheridan) first born. In fact, he is a con artist like Alexis. The story unravels, and Alexis is behind all this fake play. All she wants to do is get the money from Carrington Atlantic by using emotions as her weapon.

In the past episodes, Alexis opened up to Steven Carrington (James Mackay) that a child was born before him. In her narrative, someone took the child named Adam from them. That said, they were not able to retrieve the child or even hear from it. Steven went looking for Adam in the hopes of forming their family whole. But instead of finding Adam, Alexis lead Steven into finding a wrong Adam.

As soon as he brings Adam home, Alexis welcomes him as his mother. But when the night is dark, and no one else is awake, Alexis becomes a cougar that hunts him down like prey.

We Are Family

Jeff Colby (Sam Adegoke) and Monica Colby (Wakeema Hollis) finds out that they are half a Carrington. Their grandmother claimed that she was a secretary for the Carringtons. During her time, the senior Carrington raped her. Hence, Jeff and Monica’s mother is the result of that mistake. Now is the time they reclaim what’s theirs.

In the will left by Tom Carrington (Bill Smitrovich), a percentage of the Carrington-Atlantic goes out to his grandchildren. Even if illegitimate, Jeff and Monica still get a part of their share since they are still considered as grandchildren. They storm off to threaten Blake and Fallon about selling their shares, which is almost all the company, to a buyer.

It’s a tie between the two parties In a two vs. two setup. But since Adam is now part of the family, Blake decides to list him as one of his children for him to be possible to vote for the company sellout. But since Adam is a con artist controlled by Alexis, he proposes yes, and the Colbys gain an advantage over the Carringtons.

Good And Bad Marriages

Still, under Blake’s power, Cristal Flores (Nathalie Kelley) makes way for Blake to release her. She goes on berserk and tries to become a toxic wife. This includes breaking the house, and their marriage. But Blake is a smart man who is always two steps ahead. He makes sure that she is not getting away from the wedding with the Carrington-Atlantic story.

But that doesn’t stop her becoming a mother to Steven and Fallon. Before Steven’s wedding, Alexis goes missing. Cristal starts looking for her instead of Fallon because she fears they’ll end up in the pool once again. Although they are mother and daughter, Fallon is not up for Alexis’ tricks, which makes them fight.

Cristal goes to the barn and sees Adam kiss Alexis. This is where she realizes that Adam and Alexis are together. She also ties up loose ends. Alexis is the reason why Adam voted yes for the sellout of Carrington-Atlantic, along with Colby’s vote. He needs the money as Alexis does. Now that they’re caught, Adam runs off and leaves Alexis.

But Cristal and Alexis is a different story. As both wives of Blake, they knew to fight when they have to. They go into a bitch fight; ending up in a trashed room full of broken glass. No one wins the fight, but Alexis ends up locking Cristal in the barn. Cristal misses the wedding and stays in the room until a surprise visitor comes for her.

Dynasty Season 1, Episode 22: “Death Scratch”

Locked up in the barn, Claudia Blaisdel (Brianna Brown) visits her after escaping the psychiatric ward. What Claudia thinks is that Matthew Blaisdel (Nick Wechsler) is still with her. But it’s all in her mind. Before Cristal convinces Claudia to put down the gun, Claudia shoots at her, thinking that Matthew is trying to stop her.

Meanwhile, an unknown character locked the original Carringtons downstairs after Fallon calls for a family meeting. Fallon discovered that Liam Ridley (Adam Huber) is from a wealthy family in New York. She mentions about Carrington-Atlantic to him. To her surprise, Liam is in the talks with his uncle into buying their company. Blake warns Fallon of her plan and says it’s how dynasties are broken. But Fallon replies with a sharp, “No daddy. It’s how new dynasties are born.”

In all the events, Claudia escapes the estate and heads to the parking spaces. There, she meets Adam who is also trying to run. Together, they drove off the place while the Carringtons suffer. A mysterious person throws a lamp at the room where he locked the original Carringtons in, prompting an all-out fire.

While things are escalating, Joseph Anders (Alan Dale) encounters her daughter Kerby waiting for him in the lobby. Sammy Joe (Rafael de la Fuente) invited her to his wedding, thinking that she is a long-lost family member. Meanwhile, the Carringtons escape the burning barn, but when everyone is out, Steven stays missing.
