Strongest Man
Taiju asks Senku who he plans to de-petrify first. Senku doesn’t have any preferences, so he leaves Taiju to decide.
They go to Yuzuriha’s statue and prepare a bottle of miracle fluid. Taiju pries her out but soon realizes that she’s naked. He carries her statue and brings it to the settlement first.
Senku thinks it’s a hassle, but a lion emerges from the woods and attacks them. He guesses they probably came out of the zoos and managed to be top of the food chain.
They escape by falling down a ravine, but the chase continues. Taiju goes out in front to save Senku for his scientific knowledge, but he argues that Taiju is just as valuable as he is. Taiju gets a better idea and leads them to the statue of one of Japan’s strongest high school students, Tsukasa Shishio.
Taiju apologizes to Yuzuriha as Senku drops the liquid onto Tsukasa. The lions arrive to surround them when Tsukasa’s stone barrier breaks. They explain to him the situation at hand. Tsukasa responds by punching the male lion. After this display, the rest of the lions run away.
Tsukasa wants an explanation of everything that’s happened and promises to defend them. Taiju rejoices after finding a strong ally, but Senku is apprehensive. If he turns out evil, they can’t fight him.
Tsukasa asks for a tool to butcher the lion. Senku hands him the knife. They head back to the settlement, then Taiju puts Yuzuriha’s statue by the tree. They make their introductions and explain how they’ve been living so far. When Tsukasa finds out they’ve been eating plants all along, he vows to stop it.
Hunter
Tsukasa hunts wild boars with his bare hands, snatches wild ducks from the sky, and pierces through multiple fishes with a spear — they’ll never be short of food again.
Senku smokes their surplus of meat to preserve it for longer. Tsukasa finds a rock and smashes it with his fist, finding a statue of a woman stuck inside. The other two are impressed by his superhero-like abilities.
After dinner, Senku quizzes them about a vital necessity of scientific civilization. Taiju says it’s a smartphone, Tsukasa answers steel, but Senku thinks of something else — Calcium Carbonate.
They can source it from the shells in the sea. Taiju collects all he can find and grinds them into a fine powder. Senku explains he has four uses for the substance: first, for agriculture to manage the soil; second, for creating basic cement; third, for making soap.
Tsukasa is impressed by Senku’s brilliance, but Senku sees suspicious motives in the man. Taiju asks for the fourth substance use, but Senku insists only three exist. Taiju laughs it off, thinking he was just being forgetful.
Clashing Ideals
That night, Senku keeps himself busy by crafting a crossbow.
The following day they return to the beach where Tsukasa marvels at the stone world. He tells the story of a man beating up a young boy for supposedly stealing shells from the beach. Tsukasa gives a display by punching a man’s statue nearby.
He asks Senku if he’s willing to de-petrify the old corrupt people who would bring out the evils of humanity. He doesn’t want them to taint his stone world. Tsukasa finds it as an opportunity to purify humanity. Senku disagrees. He wants to save all of humanity instead.
Our Thoughts
It looks like our gang has unknowingly revived the show’s big baddie. Curious to see how this one develops. I rate it 3.5/5.
