Don’t Expect Any New Characters for Stranger Things 5

If you’ve been following Stranger Things on Netflix, you’ll know that every season always comes with a new character that fans just love whether it be Bob from Season Two or Eddie in Season 4. With fans currently waiting on the fifth season, co-creators the Duffer Brothers have confirmed that we may not meet any new cast members when it comes to Stranger Things’ return.
Talking to IndieWire, Matt Duffer confirmed, “We’re doing our best to resist [adding new characters] for Season 5. We’re trying not to do that so we can focus on the OG characters, I guess.”
While there probably won’t be any new characters that will join the main cast of kids, I think there’s always a lot of room to introduce a new villain. I mean, sure Vecna has been revealed to be the main antagonist of the series, but we’ve also had some very despicable human characters as well—and from all corners of the story from the Soviet Union to Hawkins High.
I guess what’s great about Stranger Things is that each new character always ends up received by the audience as they’re intended to be—Eddie is endearing to us because Dustin and the others love him, and we hate Jason Carver because the show makes him as despicable a character as ever. I guess there are also some surprising likeable characters like Barb or the one-episode Chrissy.
It will be a while before we get an update on Stranger Things 5, but fingers crossed we get our first teaser sometime late 2023.
The fifth season of Stranger Things comes out 2024, but you can check out all four seasons now streaming on Netflix.
