Doctor Who: Check Out Ncuti Gatwa's Official Doctor Get-Up

David Tennant may be the Doctor again for a while, but we know that he’s going to be replaced by the version played by Ncuti Gatwa. We don’t know exactly how Gatwa will step into the role, but we do have a look at his Doctor get-up as well as his new companion Ruby Sunday played by Millie Gibson.

Though the show has always had these ‘regeneration’ episodes where they switch actors for the Doctor, fans were thrown a curve-ball when Jodie Whittaker suddenly transformed into a previous version—and not just any version, but the fan-favorite Doctor Ten played by David Tennant.

Gatwa had already been announced for the role prior the reveal with Doctor Ten, so it’s going to be interesting to see the journey in which an older version of the Doctor hands off the TARDIS to the next face.

I’ll admit, I am kind of bummed that Whittaker wasn’t able to make the transition to Gatwa, but when it comes to story, I think this was something that fans weren’t expecting. Hopefully besides Tennant, we get a short appearance from Whittaker anyway.

The way these Doctor regenerations go, they’ve always been kind of the most dramatic parts for the character because they are all treated like a kind of ‘death’, which is immediately followed by a comedic take of the new Doctor getting used to their regenerated body.

I can’t wait for Gatwa to take the reins soon. Watch out for Doctor Who when it comes back to the BBC next year.
