Fans are still wrapping their head around the idea that Patrick Stewart will be playing Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but a rumor is coming out that we could be seeing another fan-favorite mutant make their debut.
According to The Iluminerdi’s Joseph Deckelmeier, we could be meeting a new Wolverine variant in Doctor Strange 2, and he won’t be played by Hugh Jackman. Here’s the post:
We will see Wolverine in #DoctorStrangeInTheMultiverseOfMadness but it definitely won’t be Hugh Jackman.

Though Jackman has ‘put the claws to rest’ in Logan, a lot of fans still want him to return as Wolverine—especially now with the rights of X-Men going back to Marvel Studios. Another camp of fans though, think that a return might undermine the ending that Logan got, so it’s best that Jackman’s Wolverine stay dead.
For now, fans are pitching several actors that they want to take on the role of Wolverine. Names like Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Armitage are being fancast. If anything, this is Marvel’s chance to get a more comic-accurate version of the character—just like they did with Spider-Man. Maybe this time, we can get a Wolverine that’s short, hairy, and fierce; unlike Jackman’s version which is closer to the ideal leading man.
Personally, I would have preferred if they introduce an entirely new team of X-Men without Logan. The Fox films kind of painted Wolverine as the protagonist, and that’s kind of messed up the entire dynamic. If it were me, I would just establish a new team, and probably have Logan introduced in the second movie. Heck, maybe they can keep him as a villain in the first film—just to shake things up.
We don’t know if Wolverine will appear for real, but we can watch and see when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6.
