Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Episode Synopsis

Well it’s finally here.

Today the BBC released an official synopsis for for Doctor Who’s upcoming 50th Anniversary episode.

The Doctors embark on their greatest adventure in this 50th anniversary special.

In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion.

All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him.

Although the details of the special are mostly shrouded in mystery, the episode, entitled “The Day of the Doctor” will be set in Elizabethan England, will feature appearances by John Hurt, David Tennant and Billie Piper, and is set to air around the world in a special simulcast on November 23 2013. In addition, the Zygons and the Daleks will feature.

Also onboard for the special are current Doctor Matt Smith, and Jenna Louise Coleman.

“The Day of the Doctor” was written by current showrunner Steven Moffat, and we can’t wait.
