A new original Chip n Dale animated series is making its way to the public. The Iconic duo returns as Disney+ orders the production of a new animated series, airing in its streaming service soon. TheWrap reports that the Disney+ made the announcement Tuesday during the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
Chip n Dale will have 39 7-minute episodes. Each episode will feature the lovable, troublesome chipmunks in non-dialogue adventures, bringing back the style of the classic comedic animated series. Also, Chip n Dale will be living their lives in a big city. The last known TV incarnation is entirely different from these new versions, giving it an interesting take to the characters.
Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers
Back in the 90s’, Chip and Dale starred in Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers. Along with characters like Monterey Jack, an adventurous Australian mouse, Gadget Hackwrench, the team’s technician and notably both Chip and Dale’s crush, and Zipper, a blue housefly, Chip and Dale run a Detective Agency that specializes in crimes too pint-sized for regular police to handle. They often clash with Fat Cat, a leader of a mafia, and a mad scientist named Norton Nimnul.
The show ran for a total of three seasons from 1989 to 1990. The first season had 14 episodes, the second 47, and the third had five made from the pilot movie. Seasons one and two had 22-minute episodes with plots that were not interrelated. Also, each chapter usually comprised of the Rangers working on a case, gathering evidence and clues that led to solving the issue. They often happen dramatically or humorously.
Disney+’s decision to bring back old characters reels in both old and new customers. The idea of seeing the chipmunk duo decades later does two good things. First, it lets viewers have a nostalgic feeling, although the characters look a bit different given the animation style. Second, it reintroduces the well-loved chipmunk duo to younger audiences. Sporting a new look, Chip n Dale will likely bring good laughs and crazy situations, just like the old days.
