The Swamp
Nezuko comes out of the wooden box to help Tanjiro. She has a renewed sense of strength after Urokodaki told her that she should protect all humans. She sees Mr. Kazumi and the girl as her siblings.
The demons fight them by coming out from shadow puddles on the ground. Tanjiro realizes that he has to step inside to meet them. He jumps in and falls into a swampy magical dimension where the remnants of their past victims lie.
The demons watch him with indignation. This is their territory, but Tanjiro’s training prepared him for this situation as well.
The demons move in three dimensions, making them very agile. Tanjiro waits for an opportunity and uses the Sixth form to create a massive whirlpool. The demons get caught, and it severs their bodies into pieces.
Fistfight
Tanjiro reaches for the surface, where Nezuko is brawling with the remaining demon. She uses hand-to-hand combat with her superhuman strength. The demon thinks she has consumed a huge amount of blood to be this strong.
The demon tries to get back to his swamp, but Nezuko beats him to it. He’s on the defensive as Nezko’s blows are getting stronger. The demon gets a lucky clean hit, but before he could follow up, Tanjiro arrives from below the swamp
He cuts the demon’s arms and asks him how many he’s killed. The demon justifies their gruesome act by saying those women will grow old and stale.
Shining Sun
Tanjiro then asks him about Muzan Kibutsuji, but the demon trembles with fear at hearing the name. He smells it, so he hesitates, but the demon lashes out with a quick attack. Tanjiro counters cleanly with a slash, killing the demon.
Tanjiro runs to Nezuko, who is now sleeping. The bleeding from her head has stopped, and she’s conserving energy. He then approaches Kazumi to see if he’s okay. He’s devastated as his fiance is gone.
Tanjiro tells him that he has to move on. The man grabs Tanjiro by the neck and tells him he doesn’t know how it feels. But one look in Tanjiro’s eyes made him change his mind. Tanjiro hands him a piece of cloth taken from the swamp. Encased inside is the ribbon from Sakoto. Kazumi then realizes that Tanjiro has been through the same thing before.
As Tanjiro leaves, he apologizes to Kazumi. The sun rises, and Tanjiro waves him goodbye, telling him to take care of the other girl.
Tanjiro walks with a renewed passion, thinking of how many more people Muzan has harmed. A crow appears, giving him his next assignment and telling him to stop by Asakusa, Tokyo, to find the demons lurking there.
When he arrives, Tanjiro feels shocked at how lively and colorful the city is. The buildings are tall, and there’s so much he doesn’t recognize.
Scent
He drags Nezuko somewhere else to not feel overwhelmed. Finally, he finds an Udon shop in a nearby corner for food. Just before he can consume his meal, a strong scent overwhelms him. He drops his bowl runs in its direction. It’s the same scent he sensed back home.
He finds the demon and grabs him from behind – a man with sharp red eyes and striking formal attire. He’s carrying a child which stops Tanjiro in his tracks. Muzan has a wife and daughter. They mustn’t be aware that he’s a demon.
Muzan then secretly wounds a random man from the crowd. He immediately turns into a demon and attacks his wife. Tanjiro is forced to face it.
