Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Season 1 Episode 15 Recap – Mount Natagumo

Three’s a crowd

Nezuko comes out of the box one morning to be welcomed eagerly by a smitten Zenitsu. He chases her through the rooms and halls. Tanjiro stops him and asks him to behave, but it seems like Zenitsu likes him as well. He chases them both around the house while Inosuke is relaxing outside.

The old lady asks tells Inosuke his clothes are dirty and gives him a replacement. She asks Inosuke if he likes tempura coated in flour. Flustered, Inosuke comes inside and headbutts Tanjiro, the three demon slayers chase one another inside the house.

One day the doctor tells them they’ve all recovered. A crow arrives thereafter to tell them their next stop. They are tasked to go northeast to Mount Natagumo. They thanked the old woman for her hospitality. She lights them a flint to ward off evil spirits and wishes them luck.  

They jog to the mountain with Inosuke, unable to understand her niceties. Every abstract human concept is lost on him, like wishing someone luck or having a conscience. Tanjiro doesn’t bother to explain and instead runs faster.

At the Mountain

When it gets dark, Zenitsu grumbles that he’s afraid. The dark mountain is looming at them ominously. Suddenly Tanjiro senses something; he runs to reach the smell while the others follow behind.

They find a wounded demon slayer down the road and ask him what happened. But then he’s pulled in back to the woods by some strings attached to his back.

Tanjiro wants to save him. Inosuke wants to go first, while Zenitsu cowers behind.

A shadowy figure of a child is sitting on a tree branch while multiple demon slayers are dangling on some string. There’s also a huge man and a long-haired woman waiting on a clearing.

Inosuke notices cobwebs as he walks along the path. There are webs and spiders everywhere. Tanjiro thanks Inosuke for barging in bravely while he hesitates.

Inosuke is stumped. He remembers the caring old lady.

Then Tanjiro spots a still living demon slayer. He approaches him and introduces himself. The boy is upset that a first-rank is helping them instead of a Hashira.

Inosuke punches the senpai and asks about the situation. The boy said ten of them were tasked to come here, but his companions started turning and murdering each other one by one. He’s terrified.

Reinforcements

The leader of the Demon Slayer Corps is ruminating from his base. A crow tells him the bad news. He asks the Hashiras Giyu and Shinobu to reinforce.

Zenitsu is all alone on the road, feeling abandoned. His sparrow scolds and reprimands him for helping his companions. Then he remembers Nezuko is in Tanjiro’s back, so he runs to help defend her.

Tanjiro’s party hears a creaking sound in the woods. The felled demon slayers run towards them and attack them with seemingly erratic moves. Tanjiro thinks they’re being manipulated. Inosuke wants to fight, but Tanjiro prevents him. They both do a subduing maneuver instead. Tanjiro smells something on their backs, and he realizes there are threads behind them. Inosuke charges in to cut them all.

Spiders

Tanjiro smells a strong scent and notices tiny spiders are running around. A woman clothed in white is controlling them and laughing from the shadows.

Inosuke wants to kill the spiders, but too many and too small. They have to locate the source. Tanjiro’s nose is masked by something strange.

Then a demon boy appears before them, standing on some web, telling them not to disturb his family. He tells them his mom will kill them soon.

Inosuke charges for a slash but can’t reach him as he escapes. He uses Beast Breath for Spatial Awareness and locates a demon lady hidden in the woods. Meanwhile, the child demon promises to destroy them all.

Our Thoughts

Now our main cast is together for a multiple demon fight. If past episodes have any indication, this one will be a tough job. I rate this a 3.5 out of 5.
