Demon Slayer Season: Kimetsu no Yaiba 1 Episode 14 Recap - The House with the Wisteria Family Crest

Fistfight

Tanjiro jumps in to punch the boar man in the chest, and he connects, breaking his ribs and hurling him away. Tanjiro yells at him for challenging another Demon Slayer Corps member for a duel, as it is considered taboo.

He is angry after seeing Zenitsu all messed up. Meanwhile, the boar-man laughs and asks him for a fistfight instead.

Tanjiro evades, saying that’s not what he meant, but the boar-man is relentless and starts to fight like a savage beast. Tanjiro has no choice but to fight back, but the boar’s speed and ferocity make it feel like he’s fighting an actual boar.

The boar-man’s flexibility is impressive, and he flaunts it to everybody by arching his back and touching his toes. He then charges Tanjiro and their scuffle halts when Tanjiro headbutts the boar man, and his mask falls to the ground.

Zenitsu is shocked as he sees the boar-man’s feminine face, and it doesn’t match his personality or body at all. The boar-man’s head is bleeding. He introduces himself as Inosuke Habashira. Tanjiro asks him how to write it, but he can’t.

Suddenly Inosuke freezes and passes out, foaming at the mouth. Tanjiro thinks he probably suffered a concussion. Zenitsu can’t believe that Tanjiro’s head is fine after that.

Paying Respects

Inosuke wakes up yelling and challenges Zenitsu to a fight. He finds Tanjiro and the others burying the dead from the mansion, and he asks him to help them.

Inosuke doesn’t understand the act of burying and wants a fistfight instead. Tanjiro thinks he can’t help because he’s injured, ruining Inosuke’s pride. The boar-man yells as he declares he’s better at burying people than them, and he joins in.

Everyone prays for the dead while Zenitsu bashes his head on the trees. A crow appears before them and asks them all to leave, and Inosuke challenges them to race downwards.

Zenitsu doesn’t want Shoichi to leave him alone, so Tanjiro chops instead. The crow gives a Wisteria pouch to Kiyoshi so that he’ll be protected against demons. The three siblings thank them as they head home.

Wisteria Crest

The crow then asks the three demon slayers to follow it. Tanjiro carries an unconscious Zenitsu while Inosuke keeps bugging him for a fight.

The crow leads them to a place with a Wisteria crest on the door. It tells them to rest and heal up inside. An old woman welcomes them in. They are greeted by a huge home and a lovely garden. They are treated to food and clean clothes. Zenitsu is afraid of the old woman, thinking she’s a demon for moving too fast.

During their meals, Inosuke eats like he’s in a competition, and Tanjiro offers him his food, and he gets mad.

A doctor comes in to check on their health. They all have serious injuries, with each having multiple broken ribs. They all sleep together in a room with three futons. Inosuke doesn’t want to apologize to Zenitsu for instigating a fight.

Based on the crow’s explanation. Demon slayers once rescued the owner of the Wisteria family crest. They offer their hospitality in exchange. Inosuke asks what a Demon Slayer Corps is. Tanjiro asks him why he joined the corps. His reason was that a member slipped into his territory, and he challenged him to a duel. After that, he heard about the Final Selection and learned the existence of demons. He doesn’t have parents or siblings, and all he wants to do is fight other people and creatures.

Zenitsu asks Tanjiro why he’s carrying a demon. Tanjiro thanks Zenitsu for being kind to him despite knowing.

The box rattles, and Nezuko shows herself. Zenitsu can’t believe Tanjiro is traveling with a cute girl, so he wants to punish him.

Our Thoughts

I like the dynamic of these three. And in this episode are treated with a refreshing reprieve from gruesome battles for a fairly light-hearted and comedic episode. I rate this a 3.8/5
