LA Police Department rushed singer-songwriter Demi Lovato Tuesday to a Los Angeles Hospital after an apparent drug overdose. The police responded to a call from Lovato’s address where they found her unconscious.
According to PEOPLE, those who responded to Lovato used Narcan—an emergency drug used to reverse the effects of narcotics on people—to revive her. Although TMZ reported earlier that Heroin was the drug, a source close to the “Skyscraper” singer says it was not.
Demi Lovato’s Battle, Relapse, and Drug Overdose
The family members of Lovato says that some information about Lovato’s hospitalization is incorrect. They demand respect for the family and friends of Lovato. According to Variety, Lovato is now “awake” and in a “stable” condition.
The singer rose to fame following her role in Disney’s Camp Rock. Lovato starred in the TV movie with her close friend Joe Jonas of the then Jonas Brothers along with the other members of the boy group. However, Lovato made her first appearance as an actress in Barney and Friends. As she came closer to superstardom, the singer/actress admitted in past interviews that she had Bulimia and got addicted to drugs. In 2010, she went into treatment, relapsed after a year, and was sober since then.
In a recent YouTube documentary, titled Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, Lovato openly talked about her journey into therapy and how she overcame drug addiction. It was also at that time when she broke up with her long-time boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama, who she dated for six years. She talked about how she became vulnerable after the breakup while trying to not go into relapse.
After six years of sobriety, Lovato broke her sober status. She released a song titled “Sober” and apologized to everyone for her relapse. A source says that things have been a “mess” for her. But reports say that Lovato is now stable.
Live Nation confirmed the cancellation of Lovato’s show in New Jersey seaside resort town this coming Thursday after the incident. Fox also canceled the airing of an episode in their game show “Beat Shazam” where Lovato was a guest star. Lovato shot the episode in April 2017. “Our thoughts go out to Demi and her family,” the network adds.
