DC Universe Unveils Digital Service Launch Date And 'Titans' Premiere

DC Universe has officially marked September 15, AKA Batman Day, as the launch date of the DC Universe streaming service. And leading this new chapter is the original series Titans which was given an October 3 premiere date at the New York Comic Con. Its debut on the streaming service is scheduled later on October 12.

Warner Bros revealed the plans last year and unveiled the release through the DC Daily live stream and Twitter. DC Daily host Kevin Smith teased a clip of the animated show Young Justice’ upcoming third season. And he also introduced Tiffany Smith and Hector Navarro as hosts for the news program of DC Daily. Others joining them on the show are John Barrowman, Samm Levine, Harley Quinn Smith, Sam Humphries, Clarke Wolfe, Brian Tong, Markeia McCarty, John Kourounis and Sam Humphries. The show will also be aired on the DC Universe streaming service.

Aside from revealing release dates, DC Chief Operating Officer Jim Lee also unveiled new images of Titans. According to TheWrap, the first season’s 12 episodes will air weekly on the new platform. It is partly based on the 1980’s incarnation of DC’s longtime young superhero team Teen Titans to be led by Brenton Thwaites’ Robin. In addition to that, Lee also announced that Titans would support another original show titled Doom Patrol.

The DC Universe streaming service will also have classic comics like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Other favorites to be included are the Batman: Gothic, The Authority series, Green Arrow: Year One, Shazam, The New Teen Titans, The Batman Adventures and New Gods. There is also going to be a wide array of TV shows including Lois and Clark and an HD remastered version of Batman: The Animated Series.

According to Smith, subscribers can use the DC Universe streaming service on two devices at once. The library of content will also be refreshed each month beyond weekly and daily shows.
