[00:01:00] Dash and Lily continue with their dares. Lily sends Dash to a mochi cooking class full of Japanese grannies. He tries to talk to them, but they don’t understand a word he’s saying. Dash does his best to make mochi, but he can’t do it properly—he isn’t focused. Sofia keeps on texting him because she wants to meet up. Dash sent Lily to an artsy pop-up. He thought she would have a hard time, but she loves art and making stuff, so everything was relatively easy. She made a muppet doll of what she thought Dash looked like. Lily was surprised when the host of the art group told them it was time to destroy what they had created. She saw everyone hammering and destroying the art they created.
[00:05:30] The host of the art group handed Lily a pair of garden scissors so she could destroy her muppet doll. Later that day, Dash went to the art group to get the red notebook. The host gave it to him then told Dash that Lily had decided to keep her muppet doll. She goes over to a dog park, where she spends the rest of her afternoon. Edgar spots Lily and goes over to say hi. He tells Lily how weird she is, but he apologizes for what happened during the concert. Edgar tells Lily he is giving her a compliment about her dance moves that night. He confesses to Lily he always envied her when they were kids for how weird she was. Edgar explains Lily can do anything she wants without worrying about how other people think about her.
[00:08:00] Edgar invites Lily over for slam poetry night which surprised her even more. She doesn’t think Edgar is into slam poetry. Edgar tells Lily she’s the real deal, and she always has been cool in his eyes. Before Edgar leaves, he shows Lily a friendship bracelet which seems to be the friendship bracelet she gave him back in middle school. Lily gets even more confused as to what is going on. Meanwhile, Dash is enjoying a glass of brandy when his father arrives. He didn’t know they were coming because he thought they would spend the holidays in Switzerland. Dash’s father tells him they’ve had their full of Switzerland and decided to go back early. He invites Dash over for dinner with his girlfriend, Leeza. Dash tries to stop his father from eating the mochi he created, but his father doesn’t listen to him.
[00:11:00] Dash was planning to give the mochi to Lily, but now he can’t—it’s gone. He tries to write back to Lily, but the whole encounter with his father throws him off for the night. He doesn’t know what to write or what to say. Dash ends up calling someone and asking them if they were available for dinner. Meanwhile, Lily just got home and heard Benny arguing with Langston. Benny tells him he’s going to Puerto Rico, but he still wants to continue their relationship. Langston doesn’t want to continue their relationship; he doesn’t want a long-distance relationship again. She tries to console Langston by telling him long-distance relationships aren’t so bad. She tells him she has a long-distance relationship with Dash. “That’s not a relationship, okay? That’s a pen pal,” he replies.
[00:13:30] Langston tells Lily she can still mail the notebook to Dash from Fiji. The words slipped out of Langston’s mouth because of anger. Langston tells her their parents are in Fiji because their father has a new job there. He adds they didn’t tell Lily because they knew she would freak out. Lily felt terrible and just left her brother’s room. He tries to apologize, but she is no longer in the mood to talk. Meanwhile, Dash is having dinner with Gordon and Leeza. Sofia arrives to save Dash from his father. Dash is about to argue with Gordon as to why he prefers books over their relationship, but he remembers what Lily told him.
[00:16:00] Instead of arguing, he chooses to have a conversation with Gordon for the first time in years. He tells Gordon about the first time he brought him to a bookstore. It was back then that Dash fell in love with books and reading. He enjoyed the moment with Gordon, but it wasn’t the same for him. Gordon brought Dash to the bookstore because it was the only thing that would get him to play sports. Gordon wanted Dash to become a sports enthusiast like him. Meanwhile, Lily tries to call Two Boots to look for Boomer. She wants to get the red notebook back to write down how she feels. Lily decides to go out to release some steam. She sees a bunch of snowmen in the park, then lets out her emotions, destroying all of them.
[00:19:00] Lily decides to go to the slam poetry event Edgar told her. She looks for Edgar, but no one in the crowd responds. Everyone curiously looks at Lily, waiting for what she is about to say. She lets out her darker side to the crowd, telling them she’s not always happy and positive. She tells them about her problem with her family and Fiji. As Lily was going on about her problems, she spots Edgar. She can finally face him and all the pain he caused her. Lily tells the crowd that Edgar was her middle school bully. She tells him how bad she felt after he rejected her.
[00:21:00] Lily wished she could go back in time and tell Edgar how she felt that night. How she could’ve faced all the bullies in her life who made her feel weird, different, and Asian. Edgar stands up to defend himself. He apologizes to Lily and tells her how bad he felt for her. He didn’t know what he was doing back then. He didn’t know about feelings and all that. Edgar invites Lily to a Christmas Eve party to make things up with her. Lily hesitates, but she agrees to go with Edgar. The crowd cheers them on as they are on the road to know each other.
[00:22:30] Gordon says goodbye to Dash. They were off to spend the rest of the holidays in another place. Gordon tells him they can go to the bookstore once he returns after New Year. Gordon is happy Dash got back with Sofia. He immediately tells Gordon that he and Sofia aren’t dating again. Gordon laughs and tells him, “I may not know much, but I know women.” Sofia tells him she is moving back to New York, and she wants to meet up with him to make sure things are okay between them. She wants to become friends with him and start over. He agrees being friends is okay. Sofia invites Dash to hang out with a couple of her friends.
[00:24:30] Dash and Sofia arrive at a restaurant where Priya and her friends are hanging out. Dash sees Edgar, and they seem to know each other. Edgar boasts about being at a poetry reading thing and asks Dash if he’s going to Priya’s party tomorrow. Edgar tells Dash he was bringing a girl to the party. Sofia asks Dash to go with her to Priya’s party as “friends.” Dash hesitates but eventually agrees to go with Sofia. It seems Dash and Lily were finally going to meet each other.
