Dark Matter: The Crew Attempt a Daring Heist With Deadly Repercussions

It seems inconceivable, but over the next couple of episodes the crew of Dark Matter's Raza will be forced to put aside all their petty (and in some cases not so petty) grievances in order to survive.

Episodes 10 and 11 will explore a storyline in which a tempting job opportunity slowly turns into a nightmare for our misfits when they are forced to steal a mysterious package while working alongside another group of mercenaries.

We've seen the first of this tense two-parter a little earlier than most (thanks again Syfy) and have a collection of tidbits to share with like-minded fans.

Heist Moves and Lannister Vibes

This first part of this double episode storyline plays out like a heist movie, and watching our characters run through some fun and familiar tropes offers a breath of fresh air and some welcome relief from previous episodes’ sense of claustrophobic paranoia. (In short, One has very little opportunity to eyeball Three sourly, and Two will be far too busy to play the ‘who’s the real villain?’ guessing game this week.)

Expect secret access codes, safe crackers, people being smuggled in small spaces, false identities inspected by officials, timers, alarms and all manner of heisty shenannigans.

It’s just a whole lotta fun.

You know what isn’t fun though? The mercenary group our crew are forced to work with in order to complete the job. From a set of weird brother and sister twins with strong Lannister undertones (they prefer not to define their relationship, apparently) to a would-be Three with no matching personality, to the obnoxious and hateful leader, this gang screams mistake from the opening salvo.

Actually spending time with these guys just made me realize how fond of the Raza crew I’ve become. Even Three. Especially Three.
