Daredevil: Born Again Recasts Kingpin's Wife Vanessa

Vincent D’Onofrio’s version of Wilson Fisk has a very close relationship with his wife Vanessa, and it’s a relationship that’s been pivotal with the character since the very first season of the show. Now Vanessa is set to return in Daredevil: Born Again, but though D’Onofrio is back, the show won’t be bringing back the original actress from the Netflix series.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, the role of Vanessa Fisk, who was originally played by Ayelet Zurer has been taken over by Sandrine Holt (House of Cards, Better Call Saul). We don’t have much details about Vanessa’s role in the series, but a recast of her character could mean that other characters in the show could be recast.

Two characters that the fans want the series to bring back are Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), but seeing that neither Woll nor Henson have been announced for the Born Again, some are assuming that the characters of Karen and Foggy have been recast—either that, or they won’t be showing up in the series.

With Born Again emphasizing a different timeline from the Netflix show, it’s possible that a recast of more characters could further push Marvel’s point that this is a completely different continuity. Personally, I think it would be great if they brought back the character of Daily Bugle reporter Ben Urich, who had deduced Daredevil’s identity. He was killed off in the first season of Daredevil by Fisk, but I think he would be a great character to have in Born Again, and maybe in a future Spider-Man movie if Tom Holland’s Peter Parker ever ends up working for the Bugle.

No release date has been set for Daredevil: Born Again, but fans are hoping for a Disney+ debut sometime early 2024.
