The follow-up to 2015’s James Bond installment “Spectre” is slated for a fall 2019 release date. “James Bond 25” is the film’s title and 25th entry into the Bond franchise, and it looks like Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the British spy once more. Craig’s involvement in the project has been left to public speculation. However, we’ve now just learned that Craig is indeed coming back as James Bond in 2019.
The news comes after a joint decision made by Bond Franchise big bosses Eon Productions and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer for a North American release on November 8, 2019, according to The New York Times. The new Bond film will be written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade—both longtime Bond writers in the last six installments, starting with “The World Is Not Enough” back in 1999. “James Bond 25” is still looking for a director, supporting cast and film distributor. The movie will be produced by Eon’s Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
‘James Bond 25’: Daniel Craig’s Last ‘Bond’ Film
This puts “James Bond 25” in direct competition with an untitled live-action fairy tale movie from Disney. Craig will return in what is presumed to be his last appearance as the titular character in the franchise. He first appeared in 2006’s “Casino Royale” and went on to redefine the role, capturing the entirety of the original Ian Fleming novels with authentic spirit and style.
It’s only a matter of time before we find out which actors will fill the entire roster of “James Bond 25.” Former co-stars Dave Bautista and Jeffrey Wright have both expressed their desire to come back for another Bond film. Christopher Nolan is definitely out of the picture when it comes to the list of directors being considered, saying in an interview with Playboy that he would only come in for the project when it “needed reinvention.” Craig’s run as James Bond has been full of ups and downs, so here’s to hoping that his last outing in “James Bond 25” will end on a high note before he passes it on to someone else.
