Could Free Guy Director Shawn Levy Helm Deadpool 3?

Shawn Levy has been providing hit after hit with Stranger Things then Free Guy, and now he’s teamed up again with Ryan Reynolds for Netflix’s The Adam Project. What’s interesting is, it’s possible that Levy could be attached to Reynolds’ next Deadpool movie.

Talking to Collider, Reynolds reveals that he had been talking about Deadpool 3 with Free Guy director Shawn Levy. Reynolds comments:

“We pretty much talk about everything, but I’ll say this about that particular subject is I’ll have a batch of updates on that sooner rather than later, I hope. So I’ll be able to get into stuff about Deadpool a little bit more clearly and definitively down the road.”

Though Deadpool is an infamously R-rated property, I can imagine Levy being tasked by Marvel to toe the line between adult and PG-13-friendly. Of course, nothing official has been confirmed, but with Levy’s track record, and Reynolds’ influence, I can imagine him being at the helm of a Marvel-approved Deadpool film.

Deadpool 2 may have been leading to an X-Force movie, but after the Disney/Fox merger, the status of the Merc with the Mouth has been kind of up in the air. Reports had been going around that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool return will be in an MCU movie, but we haven’t gotten any official updates since then. If anything, fans are hoping that Doctor Strange 2 will feature DP’s return, and maybe it can also explain how he finds himself in the MCU continuity.

No announcement has been made for Deadpool 3, but you can catch Reynolds in The Adam Project which hits Netflix on March 11.
