Ever since Hawkeye and Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans have been speculating just when Kingpin and/or Daredevil will be coming back to the spotlight in the MCU. As it turns out, both characters have been confirmed for an upcoming D+ show.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox will both be appearing in Echo, a spinoff focusing on Hawkeye’s Maya Lopez played by Alaqua Cox. We know that Maya has close connections with the Kingpin, but we have yet to find out how Daredevil is connected to her character.
A rumor had been going around that Daredevil is on the search for another Netflix hero Jessica Jones, and while that hasn’t been confirmed officially, it has also been said that Krysten Ritter is in talks to reprise the character for the MCU. That would then leave Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Punisher to be the Netflix heroes that have yet to be confirmed for a return.
With Maya going up against Kingpin by the end of Hawkeye, I think she could be looking for a new mentor in the form of Daredevil. After all, both heroes are handicapped, but I am curious to see how Matt will communicate with Maya, seeing that Maya requires ASL to speak, and Matt can’t really see her gestures.
I’m sure this will all build up to Daredevil finally taking the stage in his own solo title. While everyone is expecting a series from D+, I am hoping for a full-on movie. How does Ben Affleck get a film, but Charlie Cox doesn’t?
No release date has been set for Echo, but you can catch Maya in Hawkeye now streaming on Disney+.
