A lot of DC fans had already accepted that the Flash movie might be the last time we see Ben Affleck in the role of Batman, but it seems that he may not be done with the character just yet.
As revealed by Jason Momoa on his Instagram, Affleck will actually be making an appearance in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and he’s currently a part of the reshoots. Momoa posted:
Seeing that recent headlines were accusing the Zack Snyder fanbase of being comprised by bots—a lot of fans thought that this was WB’s way of further burying the original plans of the DCEU; but after the latest Shazam! trailer and Batfleck’s return in Aquaman 2, fans are going wild with speculation.
Does this mean that Affleck is back for good? Technically Flash would still be Affleck’s last appearance in the universe, seeing that Aquaman 2 comes out months earlier. With rumors going around that Flash will establish Michael Keaton as the main Batman after some Multiverse shenanigans, this news from Momoa is just further fuelling hopes of a Batfleck return.
Personally, I would have loved to see Affleck complete his run as Batman, but seeing as the role took a huge toll on his mental health, I was fine with him giving up the cowl. Then again, if he is doing better, why shouldn’t he appear as Bruce Wayne as much as he can?
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom comes to theaters on March 17, 2023.
