‘Rogue One’ and ‘Vice’ Cinematographer Greig Fraser Boards Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’

The Batman is slowly adding to its arsenal of exceptional behind-the-scenes talent. Oscar-nominated cinematographer Greig Fraser is set to oversee DP duties for Matt Reeves’ upcoming take on the Dark Knight. Of course, Good Time and The Lighthouse star Robert Pattinson is set to don the Caped Crusader’s cowl for the film.

The news comes after rumors surfaced that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood‘s DP Robert Richardson will perform cinematography duties for The Batman. Richardson denied this, saying that he hasn’t made any formal arrangements with Reeves. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Fraser is officially set to board the movie’s camera crew.

This won’t be the first time that Fraser will be working with Reeves. Fraser was the director’s cinematographer for his 2010 horror film, Let me In. And to make things more interesting, Fraser is the eye behind 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, 2018’s Vice, and the Osama bin Laden 2012 thriller Zero Dark Thirty. He’s also currently in production for Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming remake of Frank Herbert’s Dune. To top it all off, Fraser also got an Oscar nomination for his work in Garth Davis’ biographical drama, Lion. Clearly, he has the chops to make things look either gritty or spectacularly breathtaking for The Batman when cameras start rolling.

The Batman is scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.
