Tenet may not have been the savior of cinemas that Christopher Nolan was expecting it to be, but that definitely hasn’t stopped him from trying. Nolan’s next film will be another period piece with Oppenheimer, and we finally have a trailer that gives us a good look at the film.
Check this out:
Though Cillian Murphy is the most frequent face we see in the trailer, the film does have a star-studded cast which also includes the likes of Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, and Florence Pugh. We don’t know why the film would hold off on revealing all the other major actors in the film, but I think that they want the main focus to really just be on Oppenheimer as a character.
Here’s the synopsis:
Physicist J Robert Oppenheimer works with a team of scientists during the Manhattan Project, leading to the development of the atomic bomb.
Nolan has admittedly been getting flak for having some very confusing films, but no matter what you think of his work, you have to admit that they have all been visual spectacles, from a fight scene in a rotating hallway to a warzone where there are soldiers moving backwards and forwards at the same time.
While I am expecting some more of Nolan’s signature non-linear storytelling, I hope Oppenheimer becomes the film that reminds audiences why he’s such a powerhouse of a director.
Catch Oppenheimer when it hits theaters July 21, 2023—the same day as the Barbie movie.
