Chris Hemsworth Thinks Thor is Ready for Another Reinvention

Of all the characters in the MCU, Thor has probably the one who’s been ‘rebooted’ the most, moving from the more serious Shakespearean action films to the Flash Gordon-esque sci-fi adventures. With Thor’s future still an open book, Chris Hemsworth thinks that it could be time for another reboot of the character.
Talking to the Happy Sad Confused Podcast (via ScreenRant), Hemsworth explains:
“You look at Thor 1 and 2, they were quite similar. Ragnarok and Love and Thunder are similar. I think it’s about reinventing it. I’ve had such a unique opportunity with Infinity War and Endgame to do very drastic things with the character. I enjoy that, I like keeping people on their toes. It keeps me on my toes. It keeps me invested. I’ve said this before but when it becomes too familiar, I think there’s a risk in getting lazy then because I know what I’m doing. I don’t know if I’m even invited back, but if I was, I think it would have to be a drastically different version in tone, everything, just for my own sanity… [laughs] Thor lost his mind that last one. He’s got to figure it out now.”
Love and Thunder ended with Thor adopting the daughter of Gorr, starting a sort of ‘parenthood’ arc for the God of Thunder. We don’t know where Marvel wants to go with that story, but I am speculating that they want to do a complete revamp of the Mighty Thor for the big screen. Though Natalie Portman was a fine Jane Foster, the fact that the character had cancer which she couldn’t cure might have been too hard for Marvel to write around for the next ten years.
As for my pitch on where Thor should end, they should just put him on the Odin seat like he had in the comics, and just be a supporting character in future films. Sure he could have an action scene now and then, but I would be fine just watching Hemsworth show up for a few minutes and be the new All-Father.
A fifth Thor movie hasn’t been officially announced.
