Animator Genndy Tartakovsky may be known for more kid-friendly properties like Dexter’s Laboratory and Hotel Transylvania, but he’s recently branched out to do more adult-oriented animation with shows like Primal. Now Tartakovsky is set to release his next project called Unicorn: Warriors Eternal, and we have a new trailer from Adult Swim.
Check this out:
The synopsis reads:
In “Unicorn: Warriors Eternal,” an evil force is looming across the dark, thick-aired streets of industrial revolution London when a group of heroes dubbed Unicorn are accidentally reawakened in the bodies of teenagers instead of adult hosts they’ve embodied in the past. Melinda, a powerful sorceress, Seng, a cosmic monk, and Edred, a warrior elf. With distorted memories and their magical abilities weakened and fragmented, the trio must work together with help from their steam-powered robot, Copernicus, to unravel the mysteries of their pasts and present that will reveal their path to defeating a timeless threat.
The story may sound pretty complicated, but the hook with Tartakovsky projects have always been action and animation. Besides his kid-friendly projects, we also have titles like Samurai Jack and the original animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Tartakovsky was also said to have storyboarded the action scenes for Iron Man 2.
Based on what we’re seeing from Warriors Eternal, Tartakovsky’s style absolutely shines. Hopefully it manages to find its audience when it comes out next month.
Watch out for Unicorn: Warriors Eternal when it premieres on HBO Max on May 4.
