Though he was only in Spider-Man: No Way Home for a few minutes, Charlie Cox’s reprisal of Matt Murdock has huge implications for Daredevil in the MCU. We don’t know where Marvel plans to put him next, but Cox is very hopeful that he manages to keep the role for a lot longer this time around.
Talking to Supanova, Cox explained:
“I feel so lucky to have been cast in that role and it is the gift that keeps on giving. I loved every single minute of making the show. And so, to be asked to come back and to be involved in any capacity is absolutely thrilling to me. And I hope, I don’t want to sound greedy, but I hope I get to do loads more. I hope I get to be involved way, way more for many years. I hope it never ends.”
While rumors are going around that a Daredevil solo movie is in the works, some are hoping for a crossover with Spider-Man—not with Matt Murdock, but with the Man without Fear, Daredevil. Cox did go on to say in the same interview:
“Crossovers is the thing I would like to do next. I don’t know what that looks like, and I don’t know what they’re planning and all that kind of stuff. But there are some really interesting stories there that I’d love for the character to explore.”
Though the Netflix series isn’t considered canon anymore, there are a lot of great elements from the show worth salvaging. Let’s just hope that Marvel manages to keep what works and quietly disregard the things that didn’t.
