Castle Scoop: Alexis' Kidnapping, Rick's Tears, Daddy Issues & More

If you’ve been following Castle updates here at Screen Spy then you’ll know that James Brolin is set to make an appearance as Rick’s long lost Dad later this season.

Brolin’s episode, airing February 25th, is part of a tense two-part story arc (which kicks off on February 18th) in which Castle and Beckett investigate a murder that quickly exposes a plot to kidnap a wealthy Businessman’s daughter.

Dyaln Walsh, who recently guested on ABC’s Revenge, also guest stars as the ‘even-keeled’ FBI Agent Harris, who is brought in to help find the kidnappers. However Castle’s efforts on the case suddenly put his own life in danger when Alexis is kidnapped.

Executive producer Andrew Marlowe and Molly Quinn (Alexis) spoke to TV Guide recently, with Marlowe commenting “There will be a moment between father and son when Castle comes to a realization and the two men confront the realities of their relationship.

She tries to escape any way she can but keeps getting thwarted,” said Quinn. “Near the end, Alexis kind of falls apart.

James Brolin, Nathan Fillion

We’re giving Nathan the opportunity to show some colors and tackle a range of emotions he doesn’t always get to show,” Marlowe added, saying that Fillion’s Castle will openly shed tears over his daughter’s predicament, and hinting that Brolin’s storyline centers around the kidnapping.

He has a strong hand in how everything gets resolved,” added Marlowe.

We’re guessing from the image released for the episode above that Rick’s Dad may have some less ‘even-keeled’ methods for retrieving his granddaughter.

Catch Castle’s two part story “Target” February 18th and “Hunt” February 25th on ABC.
