Bruce Campbell has been a long-time collaborator of director Sam Raimi, so when it was announced that Raimi would helm Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a lot of fans were wondering if they would bring in the Evil Dead star. Now it looks like Campbell himself has confirmed an MCU appearance.
u/tylerjb223 posted an alleged interaction with Campbell on Reddit where he asks him about Doctor Strange 2. When asked if he would be in the sequel, Campbell reportedly said:
The deal with Doctor Strange is interesting. A majority of the film was reshot extensively, so I have no idea what’s in there and what isn’t. I did a cool scene with a character that’s been beloved for years, and… we’ll have to see what ends up in the movie. I don’t know if it’s still in there. It’s a pretty cool part.
We don’t really know who Campbell could be playing in the movie (if he’s even in the movie at all), but some were hoping that he played the part of a Mysterio variant. Though Spider-Man 4 never happened, some storyboards had leaked online, and it was revealed that Campbell was going to be playing the part of special effects specialist Mysterio.
Though Campbell hasn’t played any character from the comics, he’s certainly one of the more beloved elements from the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy. Heck, his character was the one who comes up with the ‘Spider-Man’ name because he thought ‘The Human Spider’ was pretty bad.
We don’t know for sure if Campbell is going to be in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but fans are waiting until May 4.
