‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Season 6, Episode 7 ‘The Honeypot’ Recap: Cleanup

Published 6 years ago
Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s most brilliant detectives tackled a case that got a bit too personal but went surprisingly well. Now, the Nine-Nine deals with office-related issues. As the Captain requires a new assistant, the workplace’s cramped space becomes a problem to both the Uniformed Officers as well as the Detectives.
In this week’s episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) helps Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher) find a new assistant. Meanwhile, Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews) asks Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) to help them organize the cramped workplace. As a secret plan unravels between Captain Holt and the new assistant, Terry finds it hard to follow after Amy’s organizing system.
Munkensmåt
With the first floor of the Nine-Nine closed indefinitely, detectives and uniformed officers have to share the workplace. In their separate desks, the Detectives’ non-work related items clutter much of the space. Seeing how messy most of their desks are, Terry, Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz), and Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) ask for Amy’s help. At first, Amy initiates the KonMari method, but it does not work on them. The Detectives’ attachments to things, despite how little or no relevance they had in their jobs, proved greater than KonMari.
The second method, called ‘Munkensmåt;’ brought the Detectives to the edge. Being forced to keep one item only, the Detectives compile around five garbage bags worth of things which they set on fire as it is part of the Munkensmåt practice. However, Terry secretly hid a pair of suspenders, much to Amy’s dismay. Terry wished to wear the suspenders after passing the Lieutenant’s exam, but he, unfortunately, does not pass the first time. Knowing this, Amy decides to buy him a new pair along with reviewers for the Lieutenant’s exam. With that, Amy learns that having attachments to things is okay as long as they motivate you to achieve your goals.
Triple Agent
Captain Holt finds it challenging to replace Gina Linetti (Chelsea Peretti), making him very picky as he looked over and interviewed some applicants. Seeing this, Jake decides to help Captain Holt since, after all, he did find Gina before. Jake introduces Captain Holt to Gordon Lundt (Karan Soni), an emotionless, no-nonsense type of guy just like Captain Holt. Despite this, Captain Holt dislikes Gordon, seeing him as a nasty, sex slut.
Regardless of how Captain Holt disliked Gordon, Jake chooses to hire him as he uncovers something about Gordon. Captain Holt’s rival, Commissioner John Kelly (Phil Reeves) sent Gordon to spy on Holt since Holt is gathering support from other Captains against the Commissioner. Seeing this, Holt and Jake launch a plan to find out if their suspicion is right.
No matter how uneventful their conversation seemed to Jake, Holt and Gordon knew that their date at the Barrel Making Exhibit brought both of them to their limits. Holt felt very disgusted with himself while Gordon could no longer deny his feelings for Holt. When Jake uncovers nothing from cloning Gordon’s hard drive, Gordon visits them at the evidence lockup to confess. With that, Holt, Jake, and Gordon work together to bring down Commissioner Kelly.
Backup Plan
With their disguises and wires on, Jake, Holt, and Gordon lure Kelly to a local diner. To Jake and Holt’s surprise, Gordon reveals their plan to Kelly; working for him all along. However, Holt had a backup plan. The condiments and tissue on the table contained listening devices, and the entire diner is full of cameras. There was no way for Kelly and Gordon to get away with their scheme. The only thing they could expect is Holt’s list of demands.
The next day, Holt indulges himself with revealing the newly renovated first floor of the precinct. Also, Holt tells Jake about the delay on Kelly’s ‘vigilant policing’ policy which involved warrantless frisking. He even invites Jake to dinner, but Jake respectfully declines, reasoning out that he will take Amy on a date of Holt’s standards.
‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Season 6, Episode 7 ‘The Honeypot’ Final Verdict
This episode easily falls under one of the show’s most humorous list. Seeing a character with a strikingly similar personality to Captain Holt was something the show finally did, and they did it well. Although the Nine-Nine’s battle with Commissioner Kelly ended in their favor, the war is not over yet. That evil old man still has a few tricks up his sleeve, and we all know it.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine continues Thursday, February 28th, with ‘He Said, She Said’ at 9/10c on NBC.
