‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Season 5 Finale: ‘Jake and Amy’ Recap: ‘For Better or Worse’ [SPOILERS]

Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) planned their perfect wedding. But on the day of their union, an unknown caller claims that a bomb will blow in the church they’re in. In Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 4 Finale, will the wedding push through or get canceled?

Responsibilities of an Arch Nemesis

Even before Amy could walk down the aisle, she faces a problem unlike no other. Her wedding gown doesn’t come on time, and her veil gets dirty from an unknown cause. She then asks Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews) and Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz) to take her veil to the dry cleaners. But that’s not just it—Amy then reveals to Jake that her niece couldn’t make it due to Chicken Pox.

Jake fixed the problem by asking Captain James Holt (Andre Braugher) to take his dog Cheddar as the ring bearer to the wedding. With that problem resolved, Gina Linetti (Chelsea Peretti) comes with him. While they are training Cheddar, Captain James receives an e-mail about the position of  New York City Police Department Commissioner. But he’s too anxious to read it and let it slide.

Meanwhile, Jake and Amy receive a threat from an unknown caller that claims a bomb is in the venue. It will detonate if they don’t call off the wedding. To their desperation, Amy and Jake scoured the whole city to find whoever sent the threat. They begin to overthink and resort to looking for the people they sent to jail in the past.

New Day, New Love

Terry and Stephanie took Amy’s veil to the dry cleaners. When they finished the job, Terry called on a taxi through a booking app. To their surprise, a beautiful woman named Alicia (Gina Rodriguez) drove the car. They head back to the venue only to find out that they left the veil in the car’s backseat. Terry called the company and asked Alicia to return it to them. However, the veil isn’t there anymore.

Terry saw an opportunity to make Rosa a date. Although unsure, Rosa makes small talk with Alicia who was okay with the idea. They both find out that they are the same with each other and end up flirting. Terry finds the veil, dumped in the curb, dirty. Now they have no choice but to trash it and leave it behind. Rosa ends up getting close to Alicia and Terry being successful.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 5 Finale: ‘Jake and Amy’

Jake and Amy track down a criminal Jake sent to jail a few years back. When they arrive at his old place, Jake realizes that he died a year ago due to lymphoma. Now that Jake crossed that enemy out, Amy went to chase hers. She was correct about it being her arch nemesis.

Now that they have the criminal, they ask him about the venue planted with a bomb. He says otherwise. But to make sure, Teddy (Kyle Bornheimer) asks his team to search the last vent where they failed to get a crew in. To make up for his mistakes, Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) volunteers to enter the vent. Charles was the reason why Jake and Amy’s wedding got printed on the daily papers. Charles went to check the vent and found out that a bomb was there.

Now that Teddy called off the wedding, both Jake and Amy are sad about what they planned for six months. But Jake promised Amy they would get married, even if it would be in front of the judge. Charles overhears the conversation and helps to resolve the problem he caused. He fixed a wedding right outside the station and pushes Jake and Amy to do the wedding.

After the wedding, they all gather up in a bar to open Captain James’ e-mail for the position. After checking, he ends up not revealing the e-mail’s contents and leaves everyone hanging if he got the position or not.
